In the October 23 episode of TV Chosun’s “Perfect Life,”viewers were given a glimpse into the everyday experiences of Lee Mi-young and her daughter, Jeon Bo-ram, a former member of T-ara.
During the show, Lee Mi-young expressed her worries regarding her daughter’s reproductive health, noting, “It’s often said that daughters inherit their mothers’ traits. My daughters are approaching their 40s and are still unmarried, prompting them to undergo a health check-up. As I’ve aged, I’ve found myself developing more cysts,”she shared.
Lee Mi-young disclosed her diagnosis of endometriosis, explaining that since entering menopause in her early 50s, she has dealt with pronounced skin aging, joint and muscle discomfort, and a compromised immune system, all of which have adversely impacted her quality of life.
The duo visited a hospital for a check-up, where Jeon Bo-ram admitted she hadn’t had any health examinations since 2022. Lee Mi-young expressed her apprehension about cervical cancer, and Jeon Bo-ram revealed that she hadn’t yet completed her HPV vaccinations due to her busy lifestyle.
Following their examinations, the doctor informed Lee Mi-young that her abdominal ultrasound suggested potential endometriosis due to her pelvic pain. The possibility of needing further MRI scans and surgery left her visibly shaken.
Regarding Jeon Bo-ram, while most of her results came back normal, an ultrasound showed a uterine cyst approximately 1 cm in size, which alarmed Lee Mi-young. The medical expert advised them to schedule a follow-up in six months and emphasized the need for regular annual screenings moving forward.
Lee Mi-young reflected on her daughter’s approaching 40th birthday, understanding that the emergence of cysts is indicative of aging. She committed to diligently monitoring their health on an annual basis.
Lee Mi-young launched her career by participating in the Miss Haitai beauty pageant in 1978 while still in high school. She made her debut in 1980 with MBC and stepped back from the industry in 1985 upon marrying singer Jeon Young-rok. She made a comeback to acting in 1991 and continues to be active in television dramas. She has two daughters: Jeon Bo-ram, associated with T-ara, and Jeon Wooram, a member of D-Unit.
