Jeon So-yeon Considers Moving To HYBE? (G)I-DLE’s Future Depends On Leader’s Decision

According to sources within the music industry on August 7th, Jeon So-yeon is currently weighing her options with various companies, one of them being KOZ Entertainment, founded by Zico under HYBE’s label. The public became aware of Jeon So-yeon’s contract expiry in November after she mentioned it in her rap lyrics during (G)I-DLE’s 3rd world tour at KSPO DOME in Seoul on August 3rd. In particular, she boldly stated, “Who would ever stop me when my contract ends in November?”

Despite the controversy surrounding her rap, the topic of (G)I-DLE’s contract renewal and Jeon So-yeon’s contract ending earlier than the other members’ has been a subject of discussion in the entertainment industry since earlier this year. The fate of (G)I-DLE as a group hinges on the decision of whether or not Jeon So-yeon will renew her contract. As talks continue, there is speculation that Jeon So-yeon may pursue individual activities at a different company while still being managed by CUBE for (G)I-DLE’s promotions.

Their chemistry and friendship had been previously showcased on KBS2’s “The Seasons – Zico’s Artist” . Recently, KOZ has formed a new team and there is speculation that this team may be dedicated to working with Jeon So-yeon. The fact that the producing team that has been collaborating with Jeon So-yeon under CUBE is also working with KOZ has only fueled the rumors of her potential move to the company.

Despite actively recruiting artists, Big Planet Made Entertainment has also expressed interest in Jeon So-yeon. However, due to ongoing controversies, such as the tampering issue, surrounding the agency, fans believe that she will not rush into making a decision before (G)I-DLE’s world tour concludes. Other companies, including KOZ, have also been careful in their statements, clarifying that any meetings between the artists have been purely due to personal connections and not with the intention of signing a contract.

On the 6th, CUBE released a statement on their official SNS, confirming that the reported contract expiry date is accurate and that they are currently in smooth discussions for a contract renewal. This confirmation came after an official from CUBE addressed media reporters at (G)I-DLE’s concert, clarifying that the mention of contract expiry during the performance was simply for show and that their exclusive contract will expire next year. In light of the numerous articles on the matter, Jeon So-yeon personally spoke out and clarified that the performance had been prearranged and discussed with the agency beforehand.

(G)I-DLE, who made their debut in May 2018, will be celebrating their 7th debut anniversary this year. The group has established their distinct musical style with a series of popular songs including “Nxde” , “Queencard” , “Super Lady” , “Tomboy” , “Klaxion” , etc. Fans and netizens are eagerly anticipating the choices made by (G)I-DLE’s leader and producer, Jeon So-yeon.
