Jeon Somi’s video sparked curiosity about her connection with GOT7’s Jinyoung, who made a surprise “appearance”in the female idol’s video.
Jeon Somi recently shared a comical video on TikTok, parodying Doja Cat’s rendition of Harry Styles’ hit song “Watermelon Sugar.”The viral performance, originally featured on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s “Musical Genre Challenge”segment, was recreated by the popular artist.
The video showcased her unique and confident character as she enjoyed noodles and sushi while playfully mouthing the lyrics.
Although viewers initially didn’t notice anything unusual in the video, as it was just Somi being her usual funny self, one netizen discovered that Jinyoung had actually made a “appearance”in the video.
Upon further viewing, it becomes apparent that the hairbrush Somi used as a microphone was adorned with a sticker featuring Jinyoung.
Without delay, K-pop enthusiasts expressed doubts about the connection between the two idols, as they were perplexed as to why the female idol would use the male star’s face on her hairbrush.

There were individuals who quickly jumped to the conclusion that they could have been in a romantic relationship, resulting in negative comments directed towards Somi, such as:
- “Jinyoung babe, I’ll get you out there.”
- “Why do I have to share my man with zionist?”
- “Free Jinyoung from this pro-Israel.”
The majority of the comments were critical, referencing Somi’s previous endorsement of Starbucks, a controversial brand that is currently facing boycotts due to its alleged support for Israel during the reported genocide in Gaza.
After Jinyoung’s name was linked to Jeon, Ahgases (GOT7 fandom) quickly clarified the situation and explained that the sticker was actually from Jinyoung’s fan union who had organized a catering and coffee truck support for him while he was filming for the 2021 drama “Devil Judge.”

it’s easy to explain actually, that sticker goes back to the devil judge’s filming time. somi’s hairstylist was jinyoung’s hairstylist all throughout the devil judge filming. https://t.co/kN2aCDbRk7 pic.twitter.com/RapQ8zSqdE

Despite its seemingly random nature, it is worth noting that both Jeon Somi and Jinyoung happen to have the same hairstylist. This leads one to believe that the hairstylist may have been the one to place the sticker on the hairbrush being used by Somi.
Moreover, supporters of both musicians emphasized that there is no reason for doubt as the two have a close friendship. This is because Somi and Jinyoung were previously artists signed with the same agency, JYP Entertainment.
Despite no longer being part of the company, Jinyoung continued to support Somi by performing her solo song “Fast Forward”while serving in the military. Similarly, Somi expressed her love and appreciation for not just Jinyoung, but also the other GOT7 members, by participating in dance challenges and shows with them.
In the meantime, Jeon Somi gained recognition when she participated in Mnet’s “Produce 101″and subsequently debuted as the center of the girl group I.O.I.
After the team disbanded, Somi was on the verge of debuting in ITZY. However, she made the decision to leave JYP and instead pursue a solo career under THEBLACKLABEL, which is headed by Teddy Park.
She achieved success as a solo artist with her songs, including “DUMB DUMB,””XOXO,””Fast Forward,”and others.
In addition, she ventured into the beauty industry by introducing her own cosmetics line, “GLYF.”
