Jeon Somi’s statement about THEBLACKLABEL’s songwriting process has caused uproar among netizens and raised concerns for izna, a fifth-generation girl group, and other artists signed to the label.
Somi’s newest comeback “Ice Cream”has recently gained attention since its release on August 2. This follows her previous hit “Fast Forward,”which was released almost a year ago on August 7, 2023.
Somi promoted her music by making a special guest appearance on Girl’s Day Hyeri’s talk show “Hyell’s Club,”which had just released its 23rd episode.
Despite fans’ anticipation for the two stars’ charming interaction, one particular instance left them gasping.
During the summer season, Hyeri expressed her excitement to see Somi and inquired about her absence during the winter.
Somi stated that the gap was purely coincidental and went on to provide some insights on the production. She specifically highlighted THEBLACKLABEL’s year-long dedication to completing the songwriting process.
Hyeri: “Summer equals Somi. In summer, I always look forward to seeing Somi. Why don’t you come back in winter?”
Somi: “It’s coincidental every time. In our company, if they write songs, it takes about a year for them to finish it. That’s coincidental!”
Hyeri: “That’s why it’s always summer.”
Somi: “I didn’t usually intend to come back, especially in summer. But this time, my song is about summer.”
