As reported by Xports News on October 25, recent talks regarding the renewal of Soyeon’s contract with CUBE Entertainment have ultimately broken down. Consequently, Soyeon and CUBE will be parting ways.
Soyeon’s current contract is scheduled to conclude in November. This information gained attention when she altered her performance lyrics at a concert in August, boldly stating, “Contract ends in November. Who’s going to stop me?”
Initially, CUBE asserted that “All members are up for contract renewal” and that Soyeon’s lyrics were merely a part of her stage act. However, they later acknowledged that Soyeon’s contract does indeed expire next month. During this time, she has not shied away from voicing her grievances about CUBE, even going as far as to publicly critique the agency.
With her decision to part from CUBE, Soyeon is now on the hunt for a new entertainment company. Meanwhile, her (G)I-DLE bandmates are still under contract with CUBE, leading to speculation about the future of the group.
It is worth noting that Soyeon’s contract expiration timeline is unique compared to her fellow members, as she debuted as a solo artist in November 2017, ahead of (G)I-DLE’s group launch in May 2018.
