In a recent declaration, Jessi addressed the controversy surrounding her departure from the scene following an assault incident involving an 18-year-old fan who was victimized.
On October 11, JTBC reported that a male fan was assaulted by a group of friends associated with the solo artist, Jessi.
As detailed in the news report, the young fan approached Jessi’s group to request a photograph. However, when she graciously declined, the situation escalated quickly, leading to an attack by one of her friend’s associates.
Evidently shaken by the unfolding events, Jessi attempted to intervene with her friends but ultimately was seen leaving the scene. Eyewitnesses later reported that the group was observed drinking after the incident.
Following backlash from fans who criticized Jessi for leaving, she issued an apology and provided clarity through her official statement.
In her message, she expressed regret to the fan and informed that they had reached out to him and his family to ensure the attacker is held accountable. Furthermore, she emphasized that it was her first encounter with the assailant that evening.
The artist behind “ZOOM”appealed for understanding, urging people not to judge the situation based solely on one perspective.
Here is Jessi’s complete statement:
“I deeply apologize for causing concern to many with the recent news about the assault involving me.
During a private gathering with acquaintances, my fan requested a photo. I respectfully declined twice due to the late hour. At that moment, the fan was unexpectedly attacked by someone I had just met that day.
In my shock during this sudden occurrence, I regrettably was not able to fully consider the fan’s feelings. Regardless of the situation, I genuinely regret that the fan experienced such an unforeseen incident, and I assume a moral responsibility for it.
Since the event, my agency and I have been in contact with the mother of the victim to swiftly locate the assailant, ensuring the fan receives an appropriate apology and compensation, while also working to guarantee that justice is served against the perpetrator.”
