Jessi has always been honest about her decision to undergo plastic surgery, but she recently shared a negative experience from her initial procedure.
In the world of K-pop, idols are highly praised for their natural beauty, while those who have undergone plastic surgery often face harsh criticism. This leads many celebrities to deny any changes to their appearance, in order to avoid negative public perception.
Despite the societal expectations, Korean-American soloist Jessi challenged the norm when she gained widespread fame in the 2020s. By openly discussing her decision to undergo plastic surgery, she encouraged women to make choices that will bring them joy and self-assurance.
Despite her apparent support for girls, Jessi was concealing the truth that she had been a victim of coerced procedures.
In her feature on Apple TV’s documentary, the “ZOOM”singer disclosed that it was her agency’s decision for her to undergo a nose job.
“The first time I got surgery, the nose job that I got, I tweaked it.”
Believing that it would enhance her appearance and self-esteem, Jessi was surprised to find that it had the opposite effect. Instead of feeling more beautiful, she became more critical of her face and noticed flaws she had never seen before.
“But once they did that, I started seeing all the flaws in my face. And that’s when I start tweaking sh*t. So, before that, I wasn’t insecure. I started getting insecure after I got surgery, and that’s when I got out of control.”
This is when things spiral out of control. In addition to getting a nose job, she also underwent a boob job, double eyelid surgery, and lip fillers. However, the boost in self-confidence she gained from these procedures ultimately caused her to go overboard.
The catalyst for change was when she began receiving hateful comments about her appearance, specifically targeting her lips.
“The first time I had the lip injections, I liked it. It was, like, a good size. And then I started overdoing it.
When I got a reality check, everybody was like, ‘Wow. She looks so botchy.’ And I saw it. And I actually got my lips dissolved.”
Despite this, the “NUNU NANA”singer continues to advocate for women undergoing plastic surgery, emphasizing the importance of responsibility and self-control in the decision-making process.

Although it was intended to boost her confidence, in her case, it only made her notice her other flaws and could potentially lead to addiction if she couldn’t handle it.
Jessi expressed her hope that agencies would respect their artists’ free will and not pressure them into undergoing cosmetic procedures. She elaborated:
“I believe enhancing yourself is fine. When you wanna do it, and someone’s forcing you to do it, it’s completely different. You have to know your limit, you know? And it’s really hard, to be honest, because once you start getting procedures done, little by little, you just keep finding flaws in yourself, and it’s really hard to control.”
