Jetpack Unlock Guide: How to Fly in Satisfactory 1.0

In Satisfactory, players enjoy continuous progression, unlocking increasingly impressive items. While many of these are purely for entertainment, some bring both fun and practicality. One essential unlockable item is the Jetpack, which allows you to fly. Here’s a guide on how to unlock the Jetpack and take to the skies in Satisfactory 1.0.

Unlocking the Jetpack should be a top priority if you’re nearing the requirement. It becomes available after reaching Tier 6 – Jetpacks on the Space Elevator. You can even prepare in advance to start flying right away.

To start flying, you’ll need:

  • Jetpack
  • Fuel (Packaged Fuel, Packaged Turbofuel, Solid Biofuel, or Packaged Liquid Biofuel)

For these requirements, ensure you have a fully operational refinery or Oil production setup to generate excess Crude Oil for packaging as fuel, although using Solid Biofuel is not optimal.

To craft the Jetpack, you will require the following materials:

  • 50x Plastic
  • 50x Rubber
  • 15x Circuit Boards
  • 5x Motors

You only need to craft one Jetpack, so automating this process isn’t necessary. Simply craft one at the equipment workshop, and you can manually craft additional ones for other players if needed.

The only method to obtain Packaged Fuel is to utilize a Packager machine, requiring 2x Fuel and 2x Empty Canisters to produce 2x Packaged Fuel. Note that this cannot be crafted manually due to the nature of the output.

Automation is key for efficient fuel production. Have a supply of automated Fuel and Empty Canisters adjacent to the Packager. Once you set this up, choose the Packaged Fuel option to commence production. Install an output leading to a storage unit for easy access. You will consume a lot of Packaged Fuel with the Jetpack, but it’s advisable not to overproduce, as other advanced fuels like Turbofuel or Liquid Biofuel will become available in later game stages.

The final step is to craft and equip the Jetpack. Open your inventory and drag the newly crafted Jetpack into your back equipment slot. Be sure to have a source of fuel in your inventory; it doesn’t need to be placed anywhere specific. As long as fuel is in your inventory, the game acknowledges it for use.

You can monitor the type of fuel being utilized by checking the lower-left corner of your screen. To fly, simply hold down the space bar after equipping the Jetpack. Keep in mind that there are limitations; you can only use the Jetpack for a limited duration before needing to land and allow the “fuel” meter to recharge. This meter depletes as you fly and must be allowed to recover on the ground, acting similarly to a stamina bar.

Unfortunately, uninterrupted flight isn’t possible. However, you can look forward to unlocking trains in the game for another travel option.
