Jiyeon Announces Divorce from Hwang Jae Gyun: “Agreement Reached After Separation”

On October 5, legal representative Attorney Choi Yoo Na from Taesung Law Firm announced that Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun have agreed to divorce after struggling to resolve their differences. They have initiated divorce mediation at the Seoul Family Court.

The attorney emphasized, “We sincerely request that the public exercise restraint from provocative reporting and speculative remarks.”

Through her legal counsel, Jiyeon stated, “I apologize for having to share such unfortunate news. We have mutually agreed to pursue divorce mediation. I appreciate your understanding for not addressing this matter sooner. I will strive to present a better image in the future.”

Jiyeon made her debut with T-ara in 2009, earning acclaim for hit tracks such as “Bo Peep Bo Peep,” “Roly-Poly,” “Lovey-Dovey,” and “I Go Crazy Because of You.” In addition to her music career, she has appeared in various television dramas including “Master of Study,” “Dream High 2,” “Triangle,” and “Imitation.”

On the other hand, Hwang Jae Gyun began his professional baseball career with the Hyundai Unicorns in 2006. He has played for teams such as the Lotte Giants and the San Francisco Giants and has been part of KT Wiz since 2018.

The couple was married in December 2022.
