Joe Manganiello, known for his role as Sir Crocodile in the highly anticipated Netflix series One Piece Season 2, discusses his unique interpretation of the character and the preparation involved.

Following the announcement of Manganiello and Lera Abova’s casting as these iconic characters, the pair participated in a brief interview to share insights about their upcoming roles.
During the conversation, Manganiello elaborated on his research process for portraying the notorious One Piece villain. He explained that he has various interpretations of Crocodile in front of him as he navigates the source material, ultimately crafting his vision of the character.

He further explained, “Crocodile is, in many ways, the opposite of Luffy. He embodies a potentially dark future for Luffy if he allows the pain of defeat to consume him, just as Crocodile experienced.”
“There’s a part of Crocodile that desires for others to endure the same suffering he faced after Whitebeard’s death and the letdown of not achieving his dream of becoming the King of the Pirates.”
“And, of course, there’s the theme of not trusting your friends,” he playfully added, before offering a lighthearted “sorry” to Abova.
Manganiello’s portrayal of Crocodile has already struck a chord with many One Piece enthusiasts, who praised the actor for grasping the intricacies of this multifaceted character. One fan noted on X, “That little giggle at the end shows he’s genuinely excited about the role. I love it!”
“I trust in this man. Season 2 will be peak,” commented another.
