Renowned bodybuilder Joey Swoll has disclosed that fitness influencer Mike Van Wyck purportedly surrendered to law enforcement after allegedly assaulting fellow athlete Jeff Nippard during a recorded incident.
On October 21, a video circulated widely on social platforms, illustrating Van Wyck forcefully pushing Nippard to the ground by his throat, nearly causing him to collide with a weight rack.
The footage cut off shortly after, but Nippard later recounted that Mike had “struck [him] in the throat again”before confronting his cameraman and “shoving him against a cable machine.”
Consequently, Van Wyck has been banned from Pure Muscle + Fitness in Burlington, Ontario, where the incident transpired, and fellow fitness creators have expressed their disapproval of his behavior towards Nippard on various online platforms.

One prominent figure in the bodybuilding community, Joey Swoll, refrained from making an immediate comment on the incident but eventually updated his audience on October 22 with significant news.
According to Swoll, Nippard has formally filed assault charges against Van Wyck, who is said to have turned himself in to the police.
“Mike, the individual responsible for assaulting Jeff, has been expelled from Pure Muscle Gym and voluntarily turned himself in last night after Jeff filed charges,” Swoll detailed in a tweet.
“It is NEVER acceptable to resort to violence against anyone, as Mike did to Jeff, whether in the gym or elsewhere. This toxic behavior in the fitness community must come to an end. Regardless of personal beliefs, we should treat each other as one united community, a family, and have zero tolerance towards aggression.”
Yesterday a video surfaced of a very popular fitness creator, Jeff Nippard, being assaulted in the gym. Everyone began making videos but the first thing I did was message him (and his friends) privately to see if he’s ok and ask if he even wants anyone to make videos or comment… pic.twitter.com/jVC5TMYy9i

Nippard, who has undergone a CT scan, reports that he is physically fine; however, the emotional and mental aftermath of the confrontation with Van Wyck has left him unsettled.
“I genuinely appreciate the overwhelming support from the community and fellow gym-goers,” he stated on Instagram. “It really helps me cope with this situation, so thank you all immensely.”
As for Swoll, he explained that he waited to address the situation until he had confirmed Nippard was doing okay, only sharing his thoughts after a lengthy FaceTime conversation with him earlier that day.
While Van Wyck has not yet made a public statement, he has since shared updates on his Instagram stories featuring messages of encouragement from fans and fellow content creators over the past day.
