Following his heroic rescue of The Awesome Truth from defeat at the hands of The Judgment Day stable, fans are curious about who John Cena will face in his next match.
Cena has held a part-time role as a WWE superstar for the past five years. Despite being a 16-time world champion, he has only made five appearances on Raw or SmackDown in the last eight months.
Despite his limited involvement in the wrestling promotion, Cena’s impact has been crucial in recent weeks. He was instrumental in Cody Rhodes winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40, launching a fierce attack on Solo Sikoa and The Bloodline.
During Raw, he once again took on the role of a hero by coming to the aid of The Miz and R-Truth during their handicap tag team match. Together, they executed the ‘Five-Knuckle Shuffle’ and ‘Attitude Adjustment’ moves on Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh, securing the victory.
Following his announcement that he plans to continue fighting until the age of 50 after ‘Mania, the WWE universe can anticipate seeing the 46-year-old wrestler in action in 2024. The question now remains, who will be the next opponent for the 23-year veteran?

John Cena finishes his feud against Finn Balor at Judgment Day
In order to be a hero, one must have a villain to defeat. In the WWE, The Judgment Day faction is widely regarded as one of the most nefarious groups. Finn Balor, currently ranked second in command only to World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest, is known for causing trouble not only for the babyfaces on the roster, but also for the fans themselves.
It makes perfect sense for Cena to shut down one of Raw’s top villains. Given his limited appearances and unlikely pursuit of championships and storylines, a one-time showdown with Balor aligns with his current role and fulfills his position as the beloved fan-favorite of the organization.
The Time is Now for Professional Wrestler Chad Gable
On the April 15 episode of Raw, Chad Gable shocked fans when he betrayed his former ally Sami Zayn and turned heel after their Intercontinental Championship match.
Despite receiving widespread backlash, including criticism from NBA legend Charles Barkley, who jokingly told Pat McAfee, “You know what, I was going to fly up there and beat up Gable.”
Although Barkley may not seek revenge on Gable, Cena could serve as a potential candidate for the task. The WWE may choose to further develop the emerging rivalry between the leader of the Alpha Academy stable and Zayn.
If Gable persists in attacking Zayn, he may soon hear “The Time is Now”announcing the end of his villainous reign as the Intercontinental champion.
John Cena & Jimmy Uso team up against The Bloodline
The precedent for a potential tag team matchup between Cena and Jimmy Uso against Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga is evident. On the April 12 episode of SmackDown, Sikoa, who is now a member of the Bloodline and a new WWE superstar, betrayed his brother Uso with the assistance of Tonga.
Uso’s presence will not simply disappear. He may require assistance in seeking retribution against Sikoa and Tonga, the sole remaining members of The Bloodline faction. The WWE could potentially designate Cena as his partner for an official match.
Alternatively, should The Bloodline duo choose to interfere in one of his upcoming matches or even challenge him to a handicap match, Cena would be an ideal candidate to counter their intervention.
