Johnny Somali threatens to sue “hypocrite” PewDiePie for saying he “ruined” Japan

Controversial streamer Johnny Somali is considering legal action against YouTube sensation PewDiePie, following the Swede’s accusation that Somali and other influencers are responsible for “ruining”Japan.

In a YouTube video posted in May 2024, Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg expressed his dissatisfaction with content creators who visit Japan and cause disruptions, singling out banned Kick streamer Johnny Somali as an example.

In 2022, Kjellberg and his wife Marzia moved to Japan where he stated that the country has become overrun with creators who purposely act in an “obnoxious”manner.

Despite gaining notoriety for his Kick streams where he harassed Japanese locals and played loud music in restaurants, Johnny Somali was identified by PewDiePie as a “f**king idiot.”The YouTuber expressed satisfaction when Johnny was eventually fined and deported from the country.

Despite this, Johnny Somali is not taking these comments lightly and argues that PewDiePie is a hypocrite, pointing out the Swedish YouTuber’s previous controversies.

“He is not my mentor, we, the new generation, are now in charge. That person should stop talking and retire,”Somali criticized. “This two-faced person has no right to even mention me, especially with false information and lies!”

The banned Kick streamer shared a screenshot of a 2017 article in which PewDiePie sparked backlash for using a racial slur during a live stream and making derogatory comments towards Jews.

Additionally, Somali highlighted the fact that the YouTuber had a considerable number of followers and financial resources, alleging that he was wasting his time by creating a video about his antics in Japan.

“It is disheartening that PewDiePie has been able to amass 111,000,000 subscribers. This means that a considerable portion of the Earth’s 8 billion human population, who have access to unlimited funds, are choosing to watch his content which mainly consists of reacting to and watching Johnny Somali. This was strongly criticized by him on his tweet (link).”

Additionally, Somali mentioned that he intended to take legal action against Kjellberg for the remarks made in the video.

“After being called a ‘terrorist,’ I found it intriguing how language can be used to potentially target someone based on their race. Such statements are clearly defamatory and can be classified as slander and libel,”he stated. “I’ll see you in court, Felix.”

At this point, it remains uncertain if Somali will indeed pursue legal action against the well-known YouTuber. However, this would not be the first instance of a conflict arising between content creators. On the same day, Twitch streamer xQc revealed that he had filed three lawsuits against his former partner, Adept, for sharing a recorded phone conversation between them.
