JoJo Siwa voiced her thoughts on the upcoming Dance Moms reboot, acknowledging that she now feels a sense of protectiveness towards Abby since the franchise is moving forward without her.
JoJo Siwa, a 21-year-old influencer, has repeatedly gained viral attention for her pivot towards prioritizing her music career.
Despite this, those who have been following the young content creator since the start will be aware that her rise to fame began on the popular reality show Dance Moms.
Siwa’s involvement with Dance Moms started in season 5, and she soon became a consistent presence, even making unexpected comebacks for future seasons.
Despite having abandoned her signature bleach blonde side ponytail hairstyle from the show, Siwa still values her time on the show greatly. In fact, she was willing to take part in the reunion special in early 2024 as a testament to this.
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Siwa was asked for her opinion on the upcoming reboot of Dance Moms: A New Era, which is scheduled to air on August 7, 2024.
The topic begins at the 9:20 minute mark.
Despite admitting that she will be watching the show on its first day, Siwa later expressed her confusion over how the Dance Moms franchise could continue without its driving force, Abby Lee Miller.
“Siwa expressed her discomfort with criticizing the person who supported her, noting that Abby’s hand may have been bitten by this new season. She firmly believes that Dance Moms will never be the same without Abby.”
Siwa emphasized the significance of the frequently referenced pyramid ranking system from the original series and the build-up to Nationals storylines, highlighting their role in Abby and her Dance Mom’s program.
“I have a strong sense of protectiveness towards Abby…that was their special bond…pursue your own interests!”
She concluded the conversation by extending her well wishes to the team working on the reboot. She also reminded them to stay true to the original and not to try to mimic Abby, as everyone can be replaced except for her.
