Joker 2 Trailer Secretly Reveals Major Batman Villain

A recently released trailer for the upcoming sequel to Joker, titled Folie à Deux, has subtly announced the appearance of a prominent Batman antagonist in the film.

The recent release of the Joker trailer has caused a stir on the internet. The trailer showcases Joaquin Phoenix’s singing, as well as appearances by Arthur Fleck and Harley Quinn in a variety show reminiscent of Sonny and Cher. Additionally, there are several references to the film The King of Comedy.

However, if you add subtitles to the trailer, there is an early and significant reveal about one of the major characters in the Batman universe.

The trailer opens with Fleck in the back of a police car, while a character named Paddy Meyers proclaims, “Two years ago, Gotham was hit like a hurricane by the name Arthur Fleck.”

Afterwards, a different voice proclaims, “They see Arthur Fleck as a martyr, but he’s not. He’s a monster.”This statement leads a reporter to dub the situation as “The trial of the century.”

Turning on the subtitles, the identity of the voice is unveiled as none other than Harvey Dent.

In the Batman comics, Dent is known as Gotham City’s District Attorney. However, after an accident involving acid, he goes insane, becomes severely scarred, and transforms into the infamous super-villain known as Two-Face.

The actor who will play Dent in Joker: Folie à Deux has not been announced yet, but the character has a rich and well-known background in the previous films.

Despite playing the role of Harvey Dent in the 1989 Batman film, Billy Dee Williams’ portrayal of Two-Face never came to fruition. In the 1995 film Batman Forever, Tommy Lee Jones took on the role of Two-Face, presenting a more exaggerated version of both sides of the character’s personality.

Although this iteration of Two-Face does not appear in the sequel The Dark Knight Rises, it still looms over the film due to the presence of the ‘Dent Act’, a law created to eliminate organized crime.

As for Harvey Dent in Joker 2, it is currently unclear if his role will be limited to a voice cameo or if he will serve as the main antagonist. It is also possible that his character may be developed further in a potential Part 3 with the potential for a Two-Face transformation. As soon as more information becomes available, we will update you.

Joker Folie à Deux will make its debut at the Venice Film Festival before its worldwide release on October 4, 2024. Prior to that, you can find out where the first showing will take place.
