Jon Jones responds to alleged death threat toward UFC drug tester

Despite his ongoing recovery from a torn pectoral muscle sustained in 2023, Jon Jones’ potential return to the octagon could be in jeopardy due to an alleged incident involving a UFC drug-testing agent.

On March 30, the UFC adhered to their random drug-testing policy by sending two drug testers to collect a urine sample from Jon “Bones” Jones, the current heavyweight champion.

According to reports, Jones was unable to provide a urine sample for the test, leading Crystal Martinez, a female tester, to suggest taking a blood sample instead.

According to a police report filed by Martinez on April 5 and shared by Aaron Bronsteter, Jones became agitated and snatched her phone, refusing to return it.

According to reports, Jones made a menacing comment, stating, “Why do you people always come so early? Do you understand the consequences of coming to my house? It usually results in death.”

According to reports, Martinez expressed feeling “terrified” as Jones became increasingly frustrated. However, she states that Jones did eventually provide a urine sample before they departed from the location.

After the police report was released, Jones utilized Instagram as a platform to clarify his perspective. He presented a detailed account of his version of events, accompanied by a security camera footage which can be viewed at https://x.com/happypunch/status/1776690805425451234?s=61&t=URe8qAbUy4OteMUR2MH5fQ.

Jones stated that he wanted to discuss the reports claiming that he had threatened the life of a drug tester. He clarified that there was a video showing both drug testers leaving his home, during which they exchanged a high five and a hug.

Despite my initial frustration with the unprofessionalism, I may have used profanity out of frustration. However, the situation ended on a friendly and amicable note with no threats involved, as stated by Jones.

According to Martinez, Jones may have been under the influence at the time as she reported smelling alcohol on him.

According to Jones, his friend’s birthday celebration was disrupted by the events that unfolded. He also claims that the drug tester breached HIPAA laws.

Jones expressed disappointment in the unprofessional behavior and breach of standard protocol by this particular tester. Having undergone drug tests for 20 years, he had never before experienced such an incident with a DCO officer.

UFC CEO Dana White anticipates Jones will make his comeback to the octagon later this year to defend his title. He has been sidelined with an injury since March 2023.

Despite allegations of assault, there are currently no official charges against Jones, which could potentially affect their return. The investigation is ongoing and more details are expected to come to light.
