Jon Jones shoots down false arrest report amid assault allegations

Despite a recent news article reporting that UFC star Jon Jones was in police custody and under arrest, the heavyweight champion promptly denied these allegations on Twitter.

A drug test administrator for UFC claims that Jon Jones physically attacked her and made a death threat during a sample collection at Jones’ New Mexico home on March 30.

According to the allegations made by Crystal Martinez in a police report filed on April 5th, Jones is accused of using profanity, taking her phone without permission, refusing to return it, and making threats against her life.

Despite the report, Jones adamantly refuted it. He proceeded to post a detailed explanation on Instagram as well as security camera footage showing him and Martinez exchanging a high-five.

Only one day after information was made public, NBC News erroneously stated that Jones had been arrested and was facing charges related to the reported assault.

Jones quickly debunked the rumor, stating to the NBC News Twitter account that it was not wise to blindly post on such a large platform.

In a more comprehensive social media post, Jones clarified that he was not under police custody and instead, he is currently in Texas attending a volleyball tournament with his daughters.

Jones shared his perspective on the reported incident involving Martinez, stating that he was taken aback by the lack of professionalism displayed by the UFC drug-testing administrator.

Jones has refuted any claims of assault or death threats. He clarified, “I want to stress that I did not make any threats, confront anyone, raise my voice, or commit any kind of assault at any point.”

“It’s regrettable that inaccurate information has been spread without thorough verification. I would like to reassure you that I will vigorously defend myself against these unfounded allegations.”

Following reports of Jon Jones’ claims that a drug testing agent had fabricated a story about him, MMA Fighting reached out to the Albuquerque Police for confirmation. Jones also provided additional information to the police, which led to an updated version of the arrest report originally filed by Martinez.

Jones confesses to having used profanity towards Martinez and he strongly believes that she is angry with him for it. He claims that she invented the story out of her anger.

Despite sharing a high-five with Martinez as she left his house, Jones was taken by surprise when he received the report, as he thought they had mended fences.
