Jorge Masvidal reveals why UFC won’t allow him to fight Jake Paul

Jorge Masvidal, a former MMA star, is making the move to the world of boxing. In June, he will face Nate Diaz in the ring. However, ‘Gamebred’ recently disclosed that a fight with Logan Paul, rather than Jake Paul, is more probable.

Despite being known as a fierce knockout artist in the Octagon, Masvidal made the decision to take a break from the promotion in 2023. According to reports, he and Dana White came to an agreement on a three-fight contract, giving Masvidal the opportunity to pursue his boxing aspirations before making a comeback to the UFC.

Nate Diaz, a former UFC superstar from Stockton, California, will be his first opponent in the boxing ring. The highly anticipated 10-round match in the light heavyweight division will take place on June 1.

Despite his recent victory, ‘Gamebred’ is already looking towards his next opponents. Unsurprisingly, a reporter wasted no time in mentioning the Paul brothers when discussing Masvidal’s future plans.

The 39-year-old was questioned about the possibility of facing off against Jake Paul, but the former BMF Champion promptly dismissed the notion, citing reasons for why it won’t be happening in the near future.

“According to Masvidal, the chances of a fight happening are 100% higher with Logan Paul rather than Jake Paul. While the UFC has allowed him to participate in boxing matches, Jake’s negative comments about Dana White may hinder a potential fight.”

In short, the UFC has made it clear that they will not allow their top draws to leave and make money elsewhere.

“So, I may be able to fight Logan Paul, but as for Jake Paul, unless he were to come here and say something foolish, I wouldn’t be able to challenge him in a boxing match.”

Despite still being under contract with the UFC, Masvidal claims he obtained special permission from White. As a result, he intends to honor his boss’s wishes and refrain from associating with Jake during his boxing venture.

Instead, the American challenged Tommy Fury, who is an undefeated professional boxer and the half-brother of Tyson. Tommy has also had success in the influencer boxing world, winning against Jake Paul and KSI.

Masvidal expressed his interest in Tommy Fury, stating, “I think we could sell out arenas in England if we were to fight there.”He acknowledged Fury’s previous matches and victory over Jake.

“If the UFC allowed it, I would be willing to fight Tommy. I am open to going over there and facing him at some point.”

Masvidal’s upcoming fight against Diaz is the initial fight of a rumored three-fight boxing contract. If Fury is signed on as the second opponent, this could leave Logan Paul as the last stop in the journey.

Despite his recent comments, it is certain that Masvidal will not be entering a boxing ring with Jake Paul while he is still bound by his UFC contract.
