Joshua’s Speech at UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Appointment Ceremony

On June 26th (local time), SEVENTEEN was present at the appointment ceremony of UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassador held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France at 10:30 a.m.

At the ceremony, SEVENTEEN was presented with the letter of appointment by UNESCO Secretary-General Audrey Azoulay and delivered their speech.

Joshua, speaking on behalf of the members, expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the UNESCO Youth Forum, which they had previously attended in November and found to be a memorable experience. He added that their desire to return had been fulfilled and they were honored to be standing before the audience as UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Youth.

“He expressed, ‘Being chosen as a representative for today’s youth, a priority group for UNESCO, is a tremendous privilege. Our journey to this point has been a gradual one, but we have persevered and are now proud to stand before you as ambassadors for the next generation’.”

In order to promote global awareness and encourage involvement in their ideals and activities, UNESCO appoints individuals with widely recognized reputations in different fields as goodwill ambassadors. As the first K-pop artist to be chosen as an official goodwill ambassador for UNESCO, SEVENTEEN’s appointment holds significant significance. Furthermore, their designation as a goodwill ambassador for youth, a priority group for UNESCO, adds even more value to their role.
