Why I’m Upset: A Detailed Explanation
Red Velvet’s Joy and Yeri couldn’t contain their disappointment after SM Entertainment “ruined”their highly anticipated 10th anniversary comeback album.
On June 24, the highly anticipated return of Red Velvet as “Summer Queens”finally came to fruition with the release of their 9th mini-album, “Cosmic.”
With this being the act’s first release in seven months, and also a special gift to ReVeluvs (fandom) in honor of their 10th debut anniversary, this album holds great significance and should not be overlooked.
Despite the anticipation of ReVeluvs and the group, SM Entertainment had to disappoint them by causing a delay in the release of the MV. The delay was announced after half an hour had passed since the expected release time.
The label then stated that the reason was “to apply final touches and enhance the video’s quality.”
Despite this not being the first instance of SM Entertainment’s mistreatment towards Red Velvet, ReVeluvs were no longer accepting their “excuse.”
Despite the label’s disappointment, it wasn’t just fans who expressed their anger on social media – even the members themselves were let down.

Joy and Yeri utilized the fan community platform Bubble to express their disappointment with the company and alluded to the true reasons for the delay.
Despite Joy addressing the issue of her minimal solo screentime in the MV to RED Production (SM’s center), the music video was still released without any changes. The label disregarded their opinions and went ahead with the original version.
In response to a fan’s observation that she had minimal solo screentime, she replied with a “smiling face with tear”emoji. When asked for her thoughts on the MV, she stated:
“I don’t know… they didn’t listen to our opinions at all and just told us to wait, but I am watching the music video with no changes at all.”

In addition, she stated:
“I can’t say anything more than this, so I will stay silent.”
Instead of being comforted by the fans, she confided in them and vented her feelings.
“It’s our 10th-anniversary album… This is an album in which I poured all my love all night long for several months, so I guess it’s not that easy to take it out from my heart that easily.
Please let me do this just for this day.”

Additionally, Yeri expressed her frustration with their 10th debut anniversary comeback, in addition to the other member’s feelings.
“Ha, the album cover… the resolution is… I am asking what happened.
This is our 10th anniversary comeback so I only want to share good feelings with ReVeluvs, but there are many reasons why it’s making me upset.
I’m on my way to another schedule that’s why I’m trying to contain my emotions.
Nevertheless, I’m happy to be able to share ‘Cosmic’ with ReVeluvs.”
