Joy Criticizes SM Entertainment’s Lack of Promotion for Red Velvet’s Comeback

During her time on Bubble, Red Velvet’s Joy expressed her disappointment with SM Entertainment for not actively promoting their upcoming 10th anniversary and comeback with a mini-album.

Previously, fans of Red Velvet, known as ReVeluvs, utilized a platform for communicating with the fandom to inquire about the group’s plans for their 10th debut anniversary in August.

Typically, agencies inform fans about important celebrations approximately 2 to 3 months in advance, announcing potential album releases, fan meetings, and concerts.

Despite the lack of promotion and attention from SM Entertainment, there has been a growing concern within the fandom regarding Red Velvet.

As it turns out, not only ReVeluvs are feeling agitated about it, but even the members themselves, including Joy.

She conveyed her confusion in her message to fans, stating:

“No, but I am curious as well. If you’re going to search, ‘Stars who are coming back in June!!’ there are various groups will will come out, right?

Meanwhile, there are also teams from our company who will appear.”

Joy began to express her discontent:

“Why aren’t they aware of us? Until when it will be kept a secret? Or did they forget to let the people know? Or they can’t? Or maybe they will release it next week? I’m also questioning.”

When a fan responded:

“No, they can forget about other things, but this is a comeback for your 10th anniversary.”

Joy concurred, adding:

“Me too, I’m quietly agree…ing.”

As these messages circulated among netters, many were unaware that Red Velvet was planning to make a comeback in June and that the group would be releasing an album.

Despite this, fans have been expressing disappointment in SM’s insufficient efforts to promote the girl group, especially since their 10th debut anniversary comeback only resulted in a mini-album. It is customary for groups celebrating a decade together to release a full album or greatest hits album, but this was not the case for Red Velvet.

  • “Among the centers, Center 3 has the least groups, so why can’t they do their work?”
  • “It’s coming out in June and there’s still no promotion? It’s June now? Shouldn’t the album be pre-ordered, too, by now?”
  • “It’s Red Velvet’s 10th anniversary. Isn’t it too much not to care about it?”

In the meantime, it was announced on June 2 that the band had already begun working on their album and was currently in the midst of shooting their music video.

Although the news did not originate from SM, fans were still informed about it through Red Velvet Joy’s show, “Animal Farm.”

Shin Dong Yup made an announcement during the broadcast:

“Unfortunately, Joy was unable to participate in the recording as she’s currently filming the music video for Red Velvet’s 10th anniversary mini-album.”

A two-week break from the show is expected for her.
