JTBC Could Face Disciplinary Action for Reporting False News About Suga

On August 16, JTBC was required to make a live apology for disseminating inaccurate information. This was in relation to a video clip aired on August 7, which showed a young man riding an electric scooter on a crowded road and discussing a drink-driving incident involving BTS member Suga. However, after conducting an investigation, the police confirmed that the person on the scooter in the video was not Suga.

In recent times, there have been multiple instances of major South Korean networks making significant mistakes. One such incident occurred on August 15, when the national broadcaster KBS accidentally aired an opera that included the Japanese national anthem, coinciding with Liberation Day.

The KCC is currently deliberating on implementing strict disciplinary actions against these networks.
