JTBC’s “Newsroom” Suffers Legal Sanction for Airing CCTV Footage Misidentified as BTS Suga’s Incident

In August, the broadcast of “Newsroom”brought attention to an alleged incident involving Suga from BTS and claims of drunk driving. Throughout the segment, the show displayed CCTV footage of an unrelated person riding an electric scooter, misleadingly implying that this footage was from the incident in question, without corroborating the actual details for viewers.

Consequently, the Korean Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) issued a legal sanction in the form of a “caution”against “Newsroom”.

Additionally, in a different situation, KBS 1TV’s program “KBS Broadcasting Seat,” which featured Puccini’s opera “Madame Butterfly” set in Japan in recognition of Korea’s Liberation Day, received an administrative guideline as a “recommendation.”
