The release date for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 is August 5, 2024, but the chapter’s spoilers have already been revealed. These spoilers confirmed Nobara’s status as she was shown alongside the deceased characters from the anime.
Despite Gege Akutami’s confirmation of his intentions regarding the female characters, there is still a possibility for things to turn out differently. This was not unexpected.
It is possible that Itadori’s perception of Megumi’s appearance alongside the deceased characters may have been influenced by his own thoughts. He witnessed her being gravely injured and saw other characters die just before her. Megumi’s comments on Nobara, coupled with her own possible death, could have led Itadori to believe that she had also perished. Therefore, Nobara’s subsequent return could be seen as a small glimmer of hope, but it is still uncertain.
Please note: The author’s opinion on Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 may potentially contain spoilers.
The Status of Nobara in Jujutsu Kaisen Confirmed After Her Appearance Alongside Deceased Characters
The spoilers for chapter 265 of Jujutsu Kaisen revealed that the events would occur within Itadori Yuji’s domain expansion, which had been introduced in the previous chapter. As a result, Yuji and Sukuna found themselves in a train station.
The spoilers for the chapter began with Itadori and Sukuna strolling through the city. They visited various locations as Itadori revealed his upbringing to the antagonist. However, Sukuna grew impatient with the protagonist’s ramblings and demanded he get to the point.
Yuji proceeded to elaborate on his interpretation of ‘dying the right way’, a commitment he had made to his late grandfather. As he spoke, various individuals appeared in his mind, such as Kento Nanami, Yoshino Junpei, Naobito Zennin, Gojo Satoru, Choso, and the especially contentious Kugisaki Nobara.
Nanami, Yoshina, and Naobito all fell victim to the cursed techniques of their enemies. Nanami was killed by Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration, while Yoshina shared the same fate. Naobito was engulfed in the deadly flames of Jogo. Gojo Satoru met his end when Sukuna’s Shrine sliced him in half, and Choso suffered a similar fate, burned to a crisp by Sukuna’s Divine Flames. Nobara was also in danger of being consumed by Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration.
It is death that links these characters together, and this possibility was further reinforced by the author’s confirmation during the series Exhibition in Jujutsu Kaisen, leaving fans even more despondent.
Possible Implications of Nobara’s Absence
During the Shibuya arc, Nobara encountered Mahito and fell prey to his cunning tactics, resulting in her becoming a victim of Idle Transfiguration. As a result, she lost one of her eyes and was left struggling to breathe.
Arata came to her rescue and advised Itadori not to hold onto false hope for her survival. Later, during the Perfect Preparation arc, Fushigoro’s silence foreshadowed her impending death.
Despite this, there have been no further confirmed allegations regarding her supposed death since then. Gege Akutami’s comments during the Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition suggested that the author had initially planned to eliminate her, but later changed their mind. This only served to fuel speculation about her demise, as there has been no official confirmation either way.
In the most recent chapter, she is seen in Itadori Yuji’s domain expansion, where he is the only one who believes that Nobara’s status is equal to that of a deceased person. Therefore, it is necessary for there to be concrete evidence confirming Nobara’s fate or for her to make a comeback. Otherwise, this could potentially create a major inconsistency in the series.
