Jujutsu Kaisen: Bringing back Todo before Nobara was Akutami’s greatest masterstroke yet

The return of a highly anticipated character in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 259 is most likely a strategic move by creator Gege Akutami. Todo Aoi made a dramatic comeback, adding much-needed support to his brother in a stunning display.

Yuji was left in shock after witnessing Choso being burned to a crisp. He felt as though he was on the verge of another breakdown. However, just like in Shibuya, the Topknot Gorilla appeared at the scene, providing a sense of reliability. Despite being unable to explain the plan they had previously concocted, he urged his brother to keep fighting against a now weakened Ryomen Sukuna.

There were high expectations for Akutami to take advantage of this opportunity and revive Nobara Kugisaki. However, it seems that this may be currently on hold.

Gege Akutami’s strategic choice to involve Todo Aoi in the events of Jujutsu Kaisen is a brilliant decision at this particular point. As mentioned earlier, his involvement in this battle closely mirrors events from the Shibuya Arc. It is reminiscent of when Yuji was forced to witness Mahito’s brutal attack on Nobara, where her eye was blown out right in front of him.

The brutal and horrifying display broke the determination of the teenager with pink hair to keep on battling. Mahito proceeded to physically overpower him, relentlessly striking him before getting ready to finish him off. Just when it seemed like all hope was lost, a loud clap broke the tense atmosphere, indicating that the fight was still ongoing – Todo Aoi had made his entrance.

After Choso sacrificed himself to save his younger brother, Yuji was once again consumed by despair and began to doubt everything. However, Todo appeared once more to reassure Yuji that the rest of their companions were most likely unharmed. Yuji quickly regained his composure and joined his brother in charging towards the Demon King.

Bringing back Todo before Nobara was a brilliant move by Akutami. As seen in Shibuya, Todo’s presence has a positive impact on Yuji, almost like a booster. With Todo by his side, Yuji was able to tap into 120% of his potential and defeat Mahito, causing him to retreat in fear.

Given the present situation, we may witness a similar outcome. Despite being unable to rescue Choso, Todo arrived in time to aid Yuji. The renewed Yuji appears to be more self-assured than ever before. Moreover, with his newly acquired abilities, it seems that he is not prepared to relinquish his determination just yet.

However, it remains uncertain whether Nobara is still alive. She was last seen in Shibuya with her eye blown out, and while Arata Nitta managed to reach her, he could not guarantee her survival. Furthermore, Nobara’s involvement in the current battle may not be appropriate, considering the growth and changes other characters have undergone.

Concluding Remarks

The return of Todo Aoi in Jujutsu Kaisen was perfectly timed. Sukuna’s Cursed Technique had been depleted, leaving him vulnerable. In addition, without any apparent defenses, this was the ideal opportunity for a full-scale attack on the King of Curses.

The last time Todo encouraged Yuji to battle, the latter surpassed his limits and reached new levels as a sorcerer. There is no suggestion that this may not occur once more.

Although it would undoubtedly be an epic moment if Nobara were to return for the final fight, it may prove challenging for her to keep up, particularly if Megumi Fushiguro is also rescued.
