Jujutsu Kaisen can ruin its legacy if Gege makes the same mistake as Tokyo Revengers

Despite already selling over 90 million copies worldwide, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is currently facing speculation about potential mistakes in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc. Fans fear that manga creator Gege Akutami may fall into a similar trap as Tokyo Revengers creator Ken Wakui did towards the end of his own manga.

The Tokyo Revengers manga chronicles the journey of Takemichi Hanagaki, a man in his mid-twenties who is granted the ability to travel through time. Utilizing this newfound power, he embarks on a mission to save his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, from a tragic fate. In order to achieve this, Takemichi travels back in time to confront the notorious Tokyo Manji Gang and alter their course of action.

Please be aware that this article includes spoilers from the manga for Jujutsu Kaisen and Tokyo Revengers.

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of the most highly acclaimed manga series in serialization. Regrettably for avid readers, the story appears to be approaching its climax as jujutsu sorcerers prepare for a final showdown against the formidable Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses.

Despite this, some fans have expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of the Shinjuku Showdown Arc by manga creator Gege Akutami. The current plot appears to be rushed, as seen by the frequent deaths of characters in the manga.

The anticipation of character deaths has become routine for fans, as they immediately begin speculating the number of chapters a sorcerer will survive when facing off against Sukuna, the King of Curses.

Despite surviving for more than two chapters, fans are still caught off guard by the sudden deaths of characters in this arc, highlighting the fast pace at which they are being killed off.

It can be inferred that the deaths of characters are not related to the development of the plot, but rather to wrapping up the series quickly. This has caused frustration among numerous fans who had hoped for a happier conclusion. Even if the manga were to have a happy ending, it may bear similarities to the ending of Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga.

Despite being memorable to fans, the Tokyo Revengers manga notoriously ended in a chaotic manner and left several conflicts unresolved for the characters.

Despite manga creator Ken Wakui’s intention to fulfill fans’ desire for a “happy ending,”the outcome proved to be detrimental. Takemichi’s meeting with Mikey in the past quickly resolved all conflicts among their friends and acquaintances in just a few panels, leaving fans feeling that the story was rushed and ultimately labeling it as “bad.”

As characters continue to meet their demise at a rapid pace in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, there is a possibility that manga creator Gege Akutami’s efforts to conclude the series could potentially tarnish its legacy.
