Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257: Sukuna’s True Nature Revealed
The theory about Sukuna consuming his twin, who was eventually reincarnated as Jin Itadori, is confirmed in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257.
One of the earliest theories about Sukuna dates back to ancient Japanese folklore, which Gege Akutami used as inspiration. In fact, Ryomen Sukuna was documented in a historical book called Nihon Shoki, also known as The Chronicles of Japan.
Despite being portrayed as a natural disaster, the book depicts him as leaving behind heaps of dead bodies. Despite this, he was revered as a local savior and even worshipped as a god. However, his defiance towards the oppressive government led to his expulsion from the Imperial Court.
According to the legends, Sukuna was believed to be a conjoined twin, which explained his unique physical appearance of having two pairs of arms and legs. His name, Ryomen, also holds the meaning of being two-faced. Due to the striking similarities between the legendary Sukuna and JJK, numerous theories emerged suggesting that Sukuna may have consumed his twin and acquired his distinct appearance.
Sukuna consumed his twin brother while still in their mother’s womb due to hunger. In the present day, Kenjaku orchestrated the birth of Jin’s son, Yuji, as part of a complex scheme. Despite the confirmation of Sukuna devouring his twin, the notion of Yuji being his twin is unfounded. Various theories suggest that Yuji is the reincarnation of the twin devoured by Sukuna.
