In Chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the most significant enigmas in the narrative is finally resolved as the link between Yuji and Sukuna is unveiled.
For a considerable amount of time, Jujutsu Kaisen has kept Yuji’s birthplace a secret. He has always possessed extraordinary physical prowess and the power to subdue the King of Curses. However, in Chapter 143, it is finally revealed that Yuji’s biological parents are Jin Itadori and Kaori Itadori.
Despite Kaori’s scarred forehead, which suggests that she is possessed by Kenjaku, Jin may have known that she was not actually possessed and yet still chose to ignore his father’s warnings. However, this still does not provide an explanation for the mystery surrounding Yuji’s birth.
Despite Yuji being the main protagonist of the series, Sukuna serves as the main villain. However, there are numerous similarities between the two. In fact, many theories in the Jujutsu Kaisen community have speculated about the connection between Yuji and Sukuna, which is finally revealed in Chapter 257. Sukuna and Yuji’s Relationship in Jujutsu Kaisen
Based on spoilers, it has been revealed that Jin Itadori, the father of Yuji, is actually the reincarnation of Sukuna’s twin brother. This means that Yuji is Sukuna’s nephew.
During Sukuna’s time in his mother’s womb, he consumed his twin brother whenever he felt hungry. This serves as the reason for his distinctive appearance. Gege was inspired by the ancient Japanese legend of “Ryomen Sukuna,”a being with four arms and four legs, with each pair situated on the front and back of the body.
In addition to its literal meaning, “Ryomen”is also associated with being two-faced. This idea is reflected in Japanese folklore through the character of Sukuna, who is depicted as a conjoined twin. Chapter 257 of Jujutsu Kaisen opens with a flashback in which Uraume questions Sukuna about Yuji and notices certain similarities between the two.
Sukuna discloses the fact that Jin Itadori is actually his twin brother reincarnated. Kenjaku orchestrates Yuji’s birth by possessing Kaori Itadori as part of an elaborate scheme, even taking the extreme measure of sealing one of Sukuna’s fingers inside Yuji.
Despite the numerous theories surrounding Sukuna and Yuji being twins, the reality is not what fans had anticipated. However, the theory based on an ancient Japanese legend, that Sukuna consumed his twin, has in fact proven to be accurate.
Interestingly, Gege chose this particular battle to disclose Yuji’s origin and to demonstrate that their shared use of the “Mizushi”technique goes beyond just being a vessel or any other reason. It is revealed that Sukuna and Yuji share the same bloodline, and this has yet to be explored further in JJK.
Despite the slight variations in their usage of Mizushi, they both utilize it differently depending on the time period and the sorcerer wielding it. The antagonist criticizes Yuji for his lack of expertise in Mizushi, noting the lower output due to his recent learning of the technique.
It is uncertain when Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen became aware of the link between himself and Yuji. Initially, when attempting to take over Yuji’s body, he was taken aback by someone who could control him. The recently revived King of Curses even inquired, “Who is this Itadori punk?”
