Despite being widely regarded as the strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo was ultimately no match for Sukuna, the most powerful sorcerer in history. Fans were left with conflicting feelings following Gojo’s death, as Chapter 235 revealed his defeat before his off-screen demise in Chapter 236.

In the latest chapter, Todo aids Yuji in his battle against the villain. Despite the epic showdown, the conclusion of Chapter 260 devastated the fandom. Speculation about Gojo’s potential return was already rampant, and Chapter 261 only heightened the tragedy.

The character referred to as the strongest in Chapter 260 is revealed to be none other than Yuta inhabiting Gojo’s body. It takes Sukuna a moment to understand, and he admires Yuta’s unwavering resolve. The chapter also includes a flashback where Yuta explains his reasons for transforming into a being like Gojo.

After escaping the Prison Realm, Gojo discovers the aftermath of the post-Shibuya chaos caused by the higher-ups and takes action by eliminating them. Although there were speculations about the culprit being either Kenjaku or someone else, Chapter 261 confirms that Gojo was responsible for the death of the higher-ups.

Kusabake believes that seizing control of a deceased body and harnessing its abilities is unethical. Despite this, Yuta is willing to sacrifice his humanity for the sake of winning. Hakari advises him against resorting to such extreme measures unless all other options have been exhausted. During his battle with Sukuna, Yuta sustains a fatal injury, but he manages to make it to Shoko’s laboratory in time. As previously arranged, they are implementing their final plan. It remains uncertain whether Yuta will survive this ordeal.

Yuta has the ability to mimic any technique for a limited time of five minutes. However, the outcome after the time elapses is unknown. It is also a possibility that he may be permanently trapped in Gojo’s body once the five minutes are up. As a result, the sorcerers are not only in a crucial stage of the battle, but they are also under a time constraint. The chapter concludes with Yuta and Sukuna preparing to unleash their Domain Expansions.

Despite Gojo having significantly weakened Sukuna during their battle of the strongest, Sukuna remains unable to open a domain or use Reverse Cursed Technique due to his depleted Cursed Energy. Despite this disadvantage, the sorcerers are still unable to defeat him.

Despite Yuta’s plans to take over Gojo’s body, Gojo was unconcerned about how his body would be used after his death. He also remained confident that he would not be defeated. However, Sukuna’s Divine Flames nearly caused the death of everyone present, but Todo was able to come to their rescue in time, except for Choso and Yuji.

Furthermore, despite Yuji and Todo joining forces, the monster remains undefeated. The continuous battle and Sukuna’s frequent use of Binding Vows have drained his strength. As a result, Yuta’s possession of Gojo’s body, though tragic, may be their only hope of victory. The outcome for Yuta is uncertain, but he is willing to sacrifice everything in order to defeat the villain.

Yuta has acquired Gojo’s Six Eyes and Limitless abilities, as well as the capability to access Gojo’s domain. As a result, he has the means to completely alter the current state of affairs. It is highly probable that Sukuna is now facing his downfall.

A few months following his passing, it is revealed in the series that the sorcerers had orchestrated their plans with the assumption that Gojo might lose. They opposed the idea of Yuta inheriting Gojo’s body, but Yuta remains resolute in his desire to become a monster, citing Gojo’s own forced transformation as his inspiration.

Gojo’s strength set him apart from the others, making it difficult for them to truly understand him. He carried the responsibility of being the most dependable one, constantly taking charge in moments of danger without any assistance. During the Shibuya incident, he faced his opponents single-handedly while the rest of the group remained on standby, following his command to only intervene if Gojo was overpowered.

Previously, he executed Geto and the higher-ups due to his duty as the most powerful one. Despite his students’ affection towards him, the chapter implies that Yuta had the deepest understanding of him. With Gojo being absent, Yuta is now the strongest sorcerer among them. This is why he now carries the same weight as Gojo once did. He didn’t hesitate to renounce his humanity, just as Gojo had done many years ago.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261 also includes a touching moment between Gojo and the second-year students. Although the manga does not depict his interactions with students following his unsealing, this flashback compensates for it. As Gojo walks towards the chamber with all the second-years, he advises Yuta to improve his rough cursed energy.

Upon their arrival, he immediately insists that everyone should depart as he doesn’t want them to witness a violent scene. Despite his request, everyone adamantly refuses to leave, unwilling to let him face his struggles alone. Gojo understands that he cannot avoid becoming a monster, especially since Geto had abandoned him.

Gojo’s trauma and his inability to move on from his past are once again explored in the scene. In high school, he coped with his trauma by immersing himself in training. However, his dreams of saving the Jujutsu World were always present, especially after the events with Geto. While the series does not depict the reactions of everyone after Gojo’s death, his students offered him their unwavering support.
