Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 263: Hana Kurusu Returns to Save Megumi as Yuji Continues to Fight Sukuna

Chapter 263 of Jujutsu Kaisen was highly anticipated as the conclusion of the intense battle between Yuta Okkotsu (in Satoru Gojo’s body) and Ryomen Sukuna within the shrunken Unlimited Void Domain Expansion. Although it was officially released over the weekend, the chapter did bring an end to this stage of the fight, but not in the manner fans had expected.

Despite Yuta launching and successfully hitting Sukuna with a Hollow Purple in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263, his lack of mastery over the Technique ultimately resulted in Sukuna surviving. Additionally, the intense use of the Hollow Purple completely depleted Yuta’s Cursed Technique, rendering him immobile on the battlefield. However, this turn of events presents a crucial opportunity for victory as Yuta’s abundant Cursed Energy can now be utilized by him and his allies.

The 263rd chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen opens with Yuta’s Unlimited Void Domain Expansion barrier shrinking and breaking apart. Despite being badly burned, Sukuna continues to fight and remarks on Yuta’s successful use of the Hollow Purple technique. However, he also notes that Yuta still lacks complete mastery of the technique, as evidenced by the barrier to his Domain being destroyed.

Yuta, Yuji Itadori, and Aoi Todo quickly take action, with the latter instructing the former to fire Hollow Purple again once it is ready, knowing that Boogie Woogie can help them avoid any obstacles. Despite Sukuna’s struggle to control his Cursed Technique, Yuji does not acknowledge Yuta’s condition, as the narrator explains.

Despite his best efforts, Yuta’s use of Hollow Purple ultimately resulted in his sudden collapse in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263. He realized that the technique had drained the last of Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique, and he couldn’t help but curse Rika for not possessing Gojo’s body. Yuta had hoped to still be able to use Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique, but was left questioning whether Kenjaku had a special method for using it after a Domain Expansion, as he had found no information on this while copying the technique.

Meanwhile, Todo is briefly distracted by Yuta, allowing Sukuna to successfully hit him with a Black Flash, causing the ball-part of his Vibraslap to break. In response, Yuji quickly charges at Sukuna, prompting Todo to activate the Vibraslap by striking it against his head. This enables Yuji to switch positions with Sukuna and deliver a powerful punch. Todo then uses a shard of Yuta’s barrier, which is still floating in the battlefield, to swap Yuji’s position once again. He sees this as the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his skills.

In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263, Yuji once again utilizes Boogie Woogie with his head, causing him to rotate around Sukuna like a roulette until Todo intervenes and stops the Vibraslap with his mouth. Determined to continue, Yuji declares his willingness to repeat this tactic as many times as necessary and urges Megumi Fushiguro to awaken. With a powerful strike of Dismantle, Yuji targets the barrier separating Sukuna’s soul from Megumi’s, prompting Sukuna to realize the selective nature of this attack.

Sukuna infers that Yuji must have made a Binding Vow in order to increase the power of his attacks and better extract souls from their hosts. He warns that if Yuji persists in using this technique, he risks losing control of Megumi’s body and ultimately losing the battle. As he speaks, Sukuna regurgitates some of his fingers and then quickly swallows them again, adding a caveat to his earlier statement.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 263: In Check

In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263, we witness Yuji charging towards Sukuna in an attempt to create some distance between them. Sukuna, on the other hand, uses Dismantle to cut up the pillar he is standing on. Despite Yuji’s punch, Sukuna manages to evade and retaliate, clarifying his previous statement that avoiding Yuji’s attacks renders all other moves ineffective. Todo also becomes worried when his Vibraslap fails to work and attempts to use it again, but no exchange takes place.

Despite having used it before, he once again employs the technique to switch Hana Kurusu directly above Sukuna’s head, catching the attention of the cursed spirit. The narrator goes on to reveal that Todo had expanded his range through a Binding Vow, as a flashback shows Hana and Yuta strategizing against Sukuna. While they both acknowledge that Angel will not engage in battle, Yuta expresses his desire for her to deal the final blow using Jacob’s Ladder.

In chapter 263 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuta declares that separating Sukuna and Megumi is a high-risk move that relies on maximizing the strengths of his Copy Cursed Technique. He elaborates that opponents often overlook the original user of the technique and the potential for their involvement in the battle while facing Yuta.

Yuta clarifies that this principle applies particularly to those who have a thorough understanding of Copy, as they are able to view it as “taking”the Technique rather than simply copying it in the heat of the moment. He elaborates on how Copy’s true power lies in possessing two identical cards in one hand when the flashback concludes. As the chapter comes to a close, Hana unleashes a Maximum Output Jacob’s Ladder at Sukuna. However, it remains uncertain if the attack was successful as the final page does not confirm its impact.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 263: In Summation

Despite not unfolding as expected by fans, chapter 263 of Jujutsu Kaisen remains captivating as it paves the way for an exhilarating continuation after a hiatus. While the timing of this break may be unfortunate, it is understandable given the health concerns of the author and illustrator, Gege Akutami.

In addition to effectively building tension around Hana’s attack, Chapter 263 adeptly maintains suspense surrounding multiple elements of the battle. Along with the uncertainty of Hana’s success, there remains the looming question of Yuta’s fate and whether his condition is deteriorating in Gojo’s body. This crucial point in the series is sure to intensify upon resuming after the break.
