The 265th chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen proved to be one of the most impactful in the series. Fans were eagerly anticipating a fierce physical battle between Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna, but creator Gege Akutami surprised them by having the two calmly converse instead.
Yuji’s goal in the chapter was to take Sukuna on a stroll down memory lane, sharing glimpses of his cherished childhood. His intention was to expose the Demon King to the concept of Humanity and potentially persuade him to drastically change his ways.
Despite its lack of success, an intriguing revelation surfaced that could potentially reveal the fate of a character who has been forgotten. This character is Hiromi Higuruma, who has been missing in action. His last appearance was during Team Jujutsu High’s failed attempt to use the Executioner’s Sword on Sukuna, after which he suffered serious injuries and was taken away by Ui Ui.
Death Portraits in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 265 Bring Higuruma’s Fate into Question
In chapter 265 of Jujutsu Kaisen, protagonist Yuji delivered a powerful monologue. Despite his efforts to persuade Sukuna to value humanity and the memories that come with it, the pink-haired teenager was unsuccessful. The Demon King remained steadfast in his own beliefs and was unwilling to change.
Despite this, the focus of this article remains on the “death portraits”that were seen during Yuji’s speech. These portraits are referred to as such because they appeared to depict characters who had met their demise in the series. The characters shown were Gojo, Choso, Nobara, Nanami, Junpei, and Naobito. Notably, Hiromi Higuruma was not among them.
It is possible that there are two scenarios – either Higuruma is deceased or still alive. During his last appearance, he failed in his attempt to attack Sukuna and was heavily injured by the Demon King. According to some, he perished after Ui Ui rescued him and his name was not mentioned thereafter.
The truth eventually came to light that Ui Ui had been utilizing his Cursed Technique to transport the wounded sorcerers to nearby Shoko Ieiri. As she was highly skilled in Reverse Cursed Technique, she was entrusted with the responsibility of healing them to the best of her abilities. However, there was no mention of Higuruma.
There is also the possibility that Higuruma is not deceased, as previously thought. It should be noted that he was not included in the “death portraits,”suggesting that he may still be alive but unable to participate in battle due to injuries.
It is possible that the author has decided to move on from his character’s role in the series and focus on other characters. Additionally, the absence of Fumihiko Takaba suggests that he is also still alive.
Nevertheless, there is another perspective to consider in this situation – the “death portraits”exclusively showcase sorcerers who were close to Yuji and have passed away. Apart from Naobito, all of the sorcerers depicted played crucial roles in Yuji’s life.
Despite not being particularly close to Yuji, Higuruma’s absence has not been confirmed and it is possible that he is deceased, as there has been no mention of him thus far.
