Jujutsu Kaisen Easter Egg in Chapter 261: A Nod to Black Clover

With the publication of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261, the manga has at last unveiled Rin Amai’s purpose within the Jujutsu Sorcerers’ plans. As the chapter delved into these revelations, readers also noticed a subtle nod to Black Clover from manga author Gege Akutami.

The main focus of the manga chapter was on Yuta Okkotsu’s possession of Satoru Gojo’s body. As Yuta had the ability to absorb Kenjaku’s Cursed Technique, the Jujutsu Sorcerers had prepared for Yuta to take over Gojo’s body in the event of the strongest sorcerer’s death during the battle. As a result, the chapter featured Yuta inhabiting Gojo’s body and battling Ryomen Sukuna.

In chapter 261 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the story revealed the reasons behind Yuta Okkotsu’s possession of Satoru Gojo’s body, including the explanation of Rin Amai’s role among the Jujutsu Sorcerers.

The sorcerer, who had recently acquired his powers, clarified that his Cursed Technique enabled him to raise his sugar level and manifest it into a tangible form. With this ability, he could conjure up desserts seemingly out of thin air. Nonetheless, the technique had its downsides, causing him to experience hyperglycemia and dizziness after using it.

Yuji Itadori made sure to taste the pudding conjured by Amai and confirmed that it was both sweet and edible.

Shoko Ieiri approached Amai and asked if he was able to use his Cursed Technique to infuse sugar into another person’s body. Amai expressed confidence in his abilities, leading Shoko to request his help in the medical team. She proposed that he infuse sugar into both her and Arata Nitta’s brains to counteract the sugar they would lose while using their cursed techniques.

Despite this, Rin Amai also had to make sure he did not go overboard, as collapsing due to high glucose levels would defeat the intended purpose.

Upon reflection, it can be observed that Charmy Pappitson, a character in Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover, serves a comparable function within the Black Bulls. In the midst of combat, her primary focus is on restoring the energy of her comrades by providing them with nourishment made from her Cotton Magic abilities.

Charmy is able to use her sheep, through her Cotton Magic, to cook food that not only replenishes mana but also heals the body. She has often been seen actively feeding her teammates during battles, especially when they are using up their mana.

It is reasonable to speculate that Rin Amai’s Cursed Technique in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shinjuku Showdown Arc bears some resemblance to Charmy Pappitson’s Cotton Magic, given their similar roles.

Therefore, it can be inferred that manga artist Gege Akutami possibly took inspiration from Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover while developing Amai Rin’s Cursed Technique. Even if this assumption is incorrect, it is undeniable that both characters hold similar roles in their respective manga series.
