Despite the conclusion of My Hero Academia manga on August 5, 2024, fans of the series continue to speculate about Deku’s fate. While his relationship with Ochako Uraraka was hinted at during his high school years, the lack of development after the eight-year time skip has prompted teasing from fans.
Additionally, a statement from Deku regarding not seeing his friends since his graduation was misinterpreted by fans, exacerbating the situation. Many fans theorized that Ochako had lost interest in Deku and ended up with his best friend Katsuki Bakugo after he lost his quirk.
Despite being a baseless theory, it sparked numerous memes that prompted fans of Jujutsu Kaisen to express their relief over the fact that the protagonist did not have a romantic interest in the story.

Why are fans of Jujutsu Kaisen glad that Yuji is not in a romantic relationship like Deku in My Hero Academia?
After My Hero Academia fans began speculating about what could have occurred between Deku and Ochako, numerous memes began circulating online portraying Deku as unhappy. According to these theories, the main character not only lost his quirk One For All, but also his romantic interest Ochako Uraraka to his closest friend Katsuki Bakugo.
As a result, numerous fans produced fan art pieces featuring Katsuki and Ochako as a couple, while Deku attempted to appear content after receiving a support item from his Class A comrades.
The trolling may have initially brought enjoyment to other fandoms, but eventually they too began to sympathize with Deku. Despite being a strong protagonist, his legacy was ruined in the eyes of everyone due to the manga’s failure to show him ending up with his love interest by the end of the series.
Therefore, as the Jujutsu Kaisen manga drew nearer to its conclusion, fans of the series were relieved to see that Yuji Itadori did not have a romantic partner. This ensured that he would not have to endure a similar experience.
How Fans Reacted to Deku Getting Trolled
The majority of fans shared the opinion that the abundance of My Hero Academia memes had become excessive and only remained humorous for a brief time before crossing the line.
“It was funny for a day and people started #DraggingIt,”one fan said.
“I don’t think there’s a single MC out there who’s been has hated as Deku for literally doing nothing wrong,”another said.
Despite having done nothing to deserve such treatment from his fandom, other fans started defending Deku. However, since the manga ended, he had consistently been targeted by trolling fans, making him possibly the most despised protagonist for no reason.
Jujutsu Kaisen fans were confident that even if Yuji Itadori had a romantic partner from the start of the series, he would not be subjected to such trolling because it was believed that he would eventually achieve a higher level by the series’ end.
“Wouldn’t be like that with Yuji even if he had a romantic interest in the beginning, by the end of things Yuji will have ascended,”another fan said.
“I genuinely hope this tweet doesn’t age like milk. don’t do Yuji like this,”other fan said.
As time went on, some fans began to worry that the rumors spread by Jujutsu Kaisen fans about Yuji Itadori would not negatively impact the overall plot and result in the main character falling into a similar predicament by the conclusion of the series.
