Jujutsu Kaisen fans call out “useless” character after Chapter 261

Jujutsu Kaisen fans expressed their discontent with one major character after Chapter 261, criticizing them for their perceived ineffectiveness in the fight.

The Shinjuku Showdown Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen is renowned for its intense action as the sorcerers battle to defeat Sukuna. Throughout this arc, we witness several characters showcase their greatest strengths as they confront the King of Curses.

Despite this, there is still one character who has not yet taken an active part in the arc: Megumi Fushiguro, a major character in the series who has played significant roles in all previous arcs.

Despite reaching the end of the Culling Game Arc, he was faced with a dangerous situation when Sukuna took over his body, turning him into the new host for the ancient sorcerer. As a result, Megumi has been forced into a more passive role in the story, much to the disappointment of fans.

In the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, numerous beloved characters, including Choso, Higuruma, Kashimo, and especially Gojo, lost their lives while battling Sukuna. Yuta, Maki, and Kusakabe were left with severe injuries, while Yuji was devastated by the loss of all those he held dear.

After his death, Gojo makes a surprise return in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261, but with a heartbreaking twist. Yuta utilizes Gojo’s lifeless body as a means to acquire his technique in order to defeat Sukuna. This mistreatment of Gojo solidifies his role as one of the most tragic characters in the narrative.

Despite the numerous deaths of major characters and the suffering of beloved ones, fans are criticizing Megumi for not actively participating in the story. In Chapter 251 of the arc, Yuji managed to make contact with Megumi’s soul and encouraged him to resist Sukuna’s control.

Despite the efforts of his friends, Megumi’s overwhelming depression at the time led him to seemingly give up, causing the opportunity they had fought so hard for to be in vain. This, combined with the struggles of the other characters and Megumi’s surrender, has left fans enraged with the user of the Ten Shadows Technique.

One X user stated, “It is evident that Megumi is the weakest link in this battle, let’s come to a consensus on that.”

“One person remarked that if Megumi hadn’t made a mistake, Yuta would have been able to defeat Sukuna in his domain. Unfortunately, that error has resulted in numerous casualties.”

Another fan chimed in, “It’s crazy to think that they could have actually defeated Sukuna if their goal wasn’t to rescue Megumi.”

Despite being the deuteragonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, there are divided opinions among fans about whether Megumi will make a comeback at a significant moment in the story.

The release date for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 261 on Manga Plus and Viz Media has been set for May 26, 2024.
