A multitude of fans have developed their own interpretation of Yuji’s character and the technique of his new Domain Expansion, as it remains undisclosed in the manga.
One supporter posted, “The hand gesture used by Yuji is the same as that of Ksitigarbha, a boddhisatva who leads others to enlightenment before achieving it himself. This is a fitting mudra for Yuji, as Ksitigarbha chose not to become a Buddha until all hells were cleansed. He is the protector of spirits.”
Another person commented that it appeared as though Yuji was performing the Kṣitigarbha/Jizō Mudra, which is a Buddha known for guiding souls who were unable to attain redemption during their lifetime, according to a tweet.
Moreover, a third fan pointed out in their comment on the post that kshitigarbha can also be translated as “womb of the earth.”This further highlights how Yuji is still a vessel, but now instead of being possessed by a demon, he carries the will and aspirations of others. This signifies Yuji’s true role and his growth as a character.
