Jujutsu Kaisen Finale Hints at Gege Akutami’s Upcoming Manga Project

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga has just concluded, but its creator, Gege Akutami, has hinted at upcoming projects.

Despite the controversy surrounding its ending, the beloved Jujutsu Kaisen manga has captivated readers worldwide, marking Akutami’s debut in serialized manga. The series has become a global phenomenon, ensuring that Akutami’s career is only just beginning.

In a recent edition of Mangaka Musings published by Viz, Gege Akutami expressed, “It’s the final chapter! Thank you for all your support! I’ll do my best to prepare for the next challenge!”

Every week, Viz releases several manga chapters while including the authors’ comments. The Mangaka Musings feature allows mangakas to share insights into their series, anime, and more.

Akutami has confirmed plans to continue creating manga, much to the excitement of fans who are eager to see his future works. While there were no explicit promises for a Jujutsu Kaisen Part 2, it’s likely he may embark on a new series entirely.

A popular JJK account, Myamura, also shared the news on Twitter/X. A fan commented, “Gege is actually a genius; the fact JJK is his first manga is impressive. His writing isn’t perfect, but he has crafted enjoyable characters and stories. His potential for the future is vast.”

Another fan humorously added, “Greg, you seem like a cool guy, but please, for the love of god, write a better ending next time.”

Yet another follower remarked, “Gege’s writing is exceptional. The ‘ending’ doesn’t come off as a true conclusion but rather a setup for what’s next. It feels like what actually ended was Sukuna’s story, which feels very complete.”
