According to chapter 253 spoilers, Satoru Gojo will appoint an exorcist as powerful enough to take up the mantle after him in Jujutsu Kaisen.
The most powerful exorcist of the modern era in Jujutsu Kaisen has always been Satoru Gojo, in the eyes of both the characters and the readers of Gege Akutami’s manga. The legendary power that comes with his Sixth Eye has helped him take center stage in every battle he has fought.
From Shibuya to Shinjuku, it’s never about the enemies beating Gojo, but rather finding a way to seal or avoid him. The teacher’s skills allow the exorcists to act only as a last resort… which is precisely the case in the recent chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Because Sukuna has managed to overcome the Possessor of the Sixth Eye, and no longer seems to have any difficulty in defeating the exorcists forced to take over. But according to the spoilers of chapter 253, Gojo would be about to present his successor himself as the best exorcist after him.

Who did Gojo make as the strongest exorcist in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 253?
According to Gojo, it is Atsuya Kusakabe, Class 1 Exorcist, who is the most powerful in Jujutsu Kaisen.
He is obviously not the only one to think this way, since even Nanami and Mei Mei seem to agree with this opinion. While the fight against Maki will continue in chapter 253 of Jujutsu Kaisen, a flashback will take readers into a past discussion between the different exorcists, who discuss the best elements in their camp.
Despite their choice, Kusakabe doesn’t think so highly of himself. During the fight between Maki and Sukuna, he will stay in the shadows to observe and wait for a chance to strike. The king of plagues notices this, of course, but is too absorbed by his confrontation with Maki, whose skills he admires despite the absence of occult energy in the young woman.
As the chapter ends, Kusakabe realizes that he is the last one standing on the battlefield. Although frightened, he realizes that his role is to kill Sukuna.
In the conventional hierarchical system of the Jujutsu world, class 1 is the highest rank, before the special class which is reserved for exorcists whose level cannot be measured. Kusakabe therefore has a high level of occult energy. He compensates for his lack of innate technique by mastering anti-territory techniques such as the New School of Shadow.
In the series, he doesn’t get many opportunities to show off his powers. He notably participates in the battles of the Parade of the Hundred Plagues. Then, during the Shibuya Drama arc, he has the misfortune of running into Sukuna. The exorcist, however, manages to escape the encounter unscathed, the king of plagues being too focused on Jogo to play with him.
According to the spoilers, Gege Akutami has some special plans in store for the underrated Atsuya Kusakabe. Even to the point of having his strength recognized by Satoru Gojo in chapter 253 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
