Jujutsu Kaisen hinted at Yuji’s domain long ago, but nobody noticed

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 264 has finally revealed Yuji’s domain expansion, but it may not come as a surprise to many.

Although the Jujutsu Kaisen manga has been in existence since 2018, it gained widespread recognition following the release of the anime series in 2020. The show captivated audiences not only with its plot and characters, but also with its opening song, which was well-received by fans.

In the first opening of Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaikai Kiten, Yuji is shown sitting in a partially submerged, abandoned train. Initially, he appears to be asleep, but his eyes suddenly open and he becomes possessed by Sukuna.

Despite being dismissed as a creative decision, nobody paid attention to it for an extended period of time. However, with the revelation of Yuji’s domain in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 264, we must now reconsider and see if it had been subtly hinted at all along.

In Chapter 264, the confrontation between Sukuna and the sorcerers escalates to an unprecedented level. Despite their best efforts, the heroes are unable to overcome the formidable King of Curses. Yet, just when defeat seems inevitable, the protagonist reveals themselves to be the last resort.

As the end draws near, Yuji activates his domain expansion, effectively trapping both himself and Sukuna inside. The area transforms into a desolate station, resembling Shibuya Station, with only the two of them present. In the final moments of the chapter, Yuji implores Sukuna to join him, perhaps to embark on a journey together.

This sequence of events sparked memories for fans of Yuji on the vacant train, leading some to believe that Gege Akutami had foreseen Yuji’s domain well in advance. Others speculate that the author may have taken inspiration from the anime and incorporated it into the manga.

“Returning to where it all began, one user tweeted praise for Gege, calling them a genius. Another user commented on the brilliance of taking an idea from the director of their own anime.”

“According to a third person, Yuji and Sukuna were at the train station the whole time, right in front of us.”

“A fourth person also commented, stating that this was the heaviest foreshadowing they had ever seen and expressed their surprise with a swear word.”

A fan also proposed a thought-provoking theory: “LISTEN TO ME, WHAT IF GOJO WAS ACTUALLY AT AN AIRPORT TO ‘HEAVEN’? AND WHAT IF… THE TRAIN STATION… IS A JOURNEY TO HELL?!”

Despite still not having witnessed the full extent of Yuji’s domain against Sukuna, it is probable that we will see the conclusion of their battle soon as Jujutsu Kaisen nears its end. This could potentially lead to Sukuna’s defeat at the train station.

The release date for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 264 is set for July 28, 2024. Additionally, readers can discover the reasoning behind the series’ sole romantic storyline and the backlash towards the new portrayal of Gojo.
