90s Anime Style Depictions of Characters from Jujutsu Kaisen

The post of the X user features six characters from Jujutsu Kaisen drawn in a 90s anime art style. The first character is Ryomen Sukuna, the ultimate antagonist and ruler of curses in the series. He appears in his awakened state, signified by his four arms, which he acquired after taking a bath.

In the Shibuya arc, the second character introduced is Yuki Tsukumo, the only female special-grade sorcerer. Sadly, she lost her life while battling Kenjaku in the Culling Game arc. Aoi Todou, who is known as Itadori Yuji’s “brother,”was introduced during the Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event arc and played a crucial role in teaching Yuji the Black Flash Cursed Technique.

Mahito, an unregistered special-grade cursed spirit, is considered by many to be the most despised character in the series. He first appeared in the Versis Mahito arc and ultimately met his demise at the hands of Kenjaku in the Shibuya arc.

The fifth character introduced during the Shibuya arc is the special-grade Death Painting Womb, Choso. He eventually discovered a potential blood relation to Itadori, as they shared one of their parents, Kenjaku.

Furthermore, the sixth character, Kugisaki Nobara, was a teammate of Itadori in the series Jujutsu Kaisen. She made her debut in the first few episodes and met her tragic end during the Shibuya arc, marking her final appearance. The post featured all these characters in the traditional 90s anime style, showcasing simplistic designs with minimal, yet eye-catching, details.

A fan noticed the strong resemblance between the characters featured in these posts for Jujutsu Kaisen, which were drawn in a 90s anime style, and the popular 90s anime series Yu Yu Hakusho. Both series fall under the Shouen genre and have captivating storylines.

Additionally, numerous fans praised the attractiveness of certain characters, particularly Sukuna, as his appearance was favored by many due to its vintage anime aesthetic. Another fan confidently asserted that any anime would be enhanced if it were drawn in the style of 90s anime, using the example of the Jujutsu Kaisen characters as proof.

Some members of the fandom expressed their preference for the new style of animation over the 90s version. Additionally, there were debates among fans about the character design of Kugisaki Nobara, with some criticizing her rougher appearance.

Finally, a fan expressed their belief that the 90s animation was a perfect fit for Jujutsu Kaisen. They speculated that this could be due to the fact that the series’ main villain, Ryomen Sukuna, is a cursed spirit from ancient times. Thus, the fan found that the 90s anime style enhanced their viewing experience of Jujutsu Kaisen.

“We prefer it New gen style,” a fan commented.

“Who did that to Nobara. hell naw,”another fan commented.

“Ok, just my opinion, but yeah, 90s style makes it sooo much better. Idk why, it just feels right. Tho the battles wouldn’t be as cool, the overall vibe would be amazing,”another fan said.
