Jujutsu Kaisen: Kenjaku has to come back from “the dead” to resolve the biggest Geto mystery

As the manga of Jujutsu Kaisen approaches its end, the enthusiasm within the fandom remains high. However, there are still numerous unresolved plot points that need to be resolved. One of them involves Kenjaku, a key antagonist in the series. As readers are aware, he was killed by Yuta Okkotsu following a confrontation with Takaba. Yet, it is uncertain if the villain managed to survive this encounter.

Despite the apparent absence of Kenjaku in Jujutsu Kaisen, there remain several lingering questions about his character that require clarification. These include the fate of the merger, the implications of his will being inherited, his reasoning for selecting the Itadori family as a Sukuna vessel, and the intriguing details of his possession of Suguru Geto’s body.

Please be advised that this article contains spoilers for the series.

The Mystery Behind Kenjaku’s Takeover of Suguru Geto’s Body in Jujutsu Kaisen

At present, despite the publication of 256 manga chapters, there is still no clear explanation of how Kenjaku was able to discover Suguru Geto’s deceased body and acquire possession of it. While Geto was defeated by Yuta Okkotsu and ultimately killed by Satoru Gojo in volume 0 of the manga, the narrative omits any details of how Kenjaku came across the body or obtained the necessary information to orchestrate it.

Kenjaku informed Gojo in Shibuya, just before Gojo was sealed, that he had not asked Shoko Ioiri to thoroughly examine Geto’s body. However, the reason for Kenjaku’s knowledge remains unexplained in the story. Additionally, it was never clarified how Kenjaku learned of Geto’s demise or how he was able to locate and retrieve the body, which is a crucial detail as many crucial plot points in the series revolve around this event.

It is highly probable that Kenjaku had a longstanding interest in Geto’s body due to his Cursed Technique and monitored him closely, possibly even enlisting others to keep an eye on the rogue sorcerer. However, this theory remains unconfirmed in the story and is simply speculation among fans, leading to frustration over author Gege Akutami’s lack of explanation for this event.

Kenjaku’s involvement in Jujutsu Kaisen has been crucial to the development of the story. Without him, many of the important plot points would not exist. He was responsible for the birth of Yuji Itadori by possessing his mother’s body, the sealing of Satoru Gojo, the creation of the Culling Games using Suguru Geto and Mahito’s Cursed Technique, and the planning of various other key events that have shaped the story.

Moreover, what sets him apart from other shonen antagonists is that he is not excessively dominant to the extent of effortlessly defeating the main protagonists. Despite being formidable, Kenjaku had to depend on cunning schemes and tactics to eliminate significant obstacles, like Satoru Gojo, in his plan. This adds depth to his character as he is portrayed as a highly intelligent manipulator.

In conclusion

Despite the significant impact of Kenjaku’s takeover of Suguru Geto’s body on the plot, the Jujutsu Kaisen series has yet to fully delve into the details of this event. It is uncertain if the manga will address this topic in the upcoming chapters.

It was quite ironic that Jogo, from Jujutsu Kaisen, chose to side with Kenjaku, and there was a significant reason behind his decision.
