Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Teases Potentially Tragic Conclusion

Jujutsu Kaisen manga continues to uphold its dark themes as suggested in Chapter 270.

In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270, the penultimate chapter of the series, a final mission for Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara is unveiled. This first-year trio has faced numerous challenges since the Shibuya Incident Arc.

While Nobara’s fate remains uncertain and Yuji has been led to believe she is deceased, Megumi’s body was overtaken by the King of Curses. With the King of Curses finally defeated and the trio reunited, fans are left hoping for a satisfactory conclusion – or so it appears.

The title of Chapter 270, ‘End of a Dream,’ hints at a conclusion for this core trio. However, many fans may have overlooked its implications due to translation nuances.

A prominent JJK translator noted, “JJK 270 is totally unrelated fun fact but YumeNo is what JP fandom calls Yuuji (yu), Megumi (me), and Nobara (no) as a trio, so the ‘End of a Dream’ title in JP also subtly refers to the end of YuMeNo.”

They went on to express, “I’m not heavily invested in any theories, honestly, I’m just here for the enjoyment, but my sentimentality leads me to reflect on Gojo’s dream of transforming the jujutsu world by mentoring students and sorcerers. It would be uplifting if this chapter symbolized the realization of that dream.”

As expected, JJK fans have various interpretations regarding the title’s meaning. One fan shared, “I interpreted it as the conclusion of Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara’s journey since JJK concludes next week. Do you subscribe to any specific theory for the last chapter? And thanks for the translations as always,” as noted in their post.

Another fan

“What if we discover that it was merely a dream concocted by Tengen, explaining why Megumi’s scar suddenly vanished and why everyone appears alive except for those Yuji witnessed dying?” speculated another user.
