Jujutsu Kaisen played the most cruel joke with Mahito on his way to surpass Sukuna

Despite ultimately meeting his demise in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Mahito, who had been a persistent threat to the protagonists, showcased the potential to surpass even the all-powerful King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. His extraordinary ability to mimic others demonstrated his genius, but unfortunately, the manga’s storyline prevented him from ever realizing the true extent of his abilities – the perfection of Sukuna’s physical form.

Mahito, who was allied with Pseudo-Geto/Kenjaku as an unregistered special-grade cursed spirit, was also the leader of a group called the Disaster Curses. This group, consisting of Jogo, Hanami, and Dagon, aimed to eliminate humanity and replace them with cursed spirits. However, he was ultimately absorbed by Kenjaku.

Jujutsu Kaisen theory suggests Mahito’s true strength may have been underestimated

This may sound stupid, but why didn’t Mahito add more arms to his body? byu/THEUnlikely_Web inJuJutsuKaisen

A Jujutsu Kaisen enthusiast, Reddit user U/THEUnlikely_Web questioned why Mahito never augmented his body with additional arms. As seen in the manga series, Ryomen Sukuna’s physique proved to be the most effective for employing cursed techniques. This was due to the King of Curses possessing extra hands and mouths, allowing him to perform hand signs and vocalize incantations even while occupied with another opponent.

Therefore, by utilizing his Idle Transfiguration to create extra arms and mouths on his body, Mahito would have achieved a state of invincibility and potentially reached the same level as the King of Curses.

In contrast to Sukuna, who has his extra arms directly beneath his regular ones, Mahito could have grown his new arms on his back, giving him greater flexibility in combat and allowing him to attack foes from any angle.

Despite being a young curse, Mahito’s creativity has been consistently displayed in the series through his use of techniques such as Polymorphic Soul Isomer and Soul Multiplicity. These moves originate from his innate Cursed Technique Idle Transfiguration, showcasing his natural talent. However, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga ultimately failed Mahito by not recognizing his potential.

In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Mahito is depicted as a cursed spirit who can only tap into his creativity once he gains knowledge of it. Throughout the series, Mahito is shown quickly learning concepts such as Black Flash and the 0.2-second Domain Expansion on the spot.

Despite this, Mahito was only able to replicate such feats after observing someone else do them. This indicated that Mahito was not aware of the advantages of Sukuna’s techniques.

Despite Mahito’s lack of knowledge, fans cannot criticize him as they themselves only discovered the perfection of Sukuna’s body as a sorcerer much later in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Therefore, even if Mahito had not passed away in the Shibuya Incident Arc, he would not have been able to determine this.

It must be frustrating for fans to see that Mahito was capable of manifesting extra arms for himself. This was evident when he performed the domain expansion hand sign in the anime, revealing tiny hands emerging from inside his mouth.

Therefore, if Mahito had given it proper consideration, he could have potentially created a similar build to Sukuna. However, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga never depicted Mahito as being capable of such ingenuity on his own.
