Following the 4th popularity poll for Jujutsu Kaisen’s anniversary, the manga has updated the official descriptions of its characters.
Jujutsu Kaisen has begun its final battle, pitting the exorcists against the manga’s most powerful enemy, Sukuna. The king of plagues seems not to back down despite the heroes’ numerous assaults, but as long as there are fighters left, the story can continue.
Publication was briefly paused, but Gege Akutami’s work did not leave fans with nothing to sink their teeth into: for the 6th anniversary of Jujutsu Kaisen, the surprises piled up. Color covers were thus revealed, and a survey made it possible to update the official descriptions of the characters.
Shared on X/Twitter, they have since been translated into English and allow us to discover new details about those who bring the story of Jujutsu Kaisen to life.
Warning for anime viewers: this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga!
1 – Yuji Itadori n’oubliera jamais Nobara
The official description of Yuji Itadori, protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, states that “he lives to fulfill his role. He wants to make sure Kugisaki Square stays empty.”
Unfortunately, Nobara Kugisaki did not have a new description, the manga having not mentioned Megumi and Yuji’s comrade again since her confrontation with Mahito. But the high school student is still entitled to a reference thanks to the hero.
The new bio can be double-edged: the fact that Yuji is trying to keep Nobara’s place does not mean that the young girl will be able to get it back one day. That the hero refuses to let anyone try to replace her can therefore also be seen as a tribute.
As for its “role” , the term has not been clarified. This can be seen as a reference to chapter 157, in which Yuji tells Hakari that he is nothing more than a cog in a machine using the exorcists to eradicate the plagues.
2 – Megumi Fushiguro a peur de perdre Yuji
The official description of Megumi Fushiguro presents him as “a 15-year-old who is incapable of lying when faced with those close to him. He refuses to eat sweet accompaniments to his meals, and doesn’t want Itadori to die.”
Megumi always considered herself responsible for Yuji’s swallowing of Sukuna’s finger. If his comrade hadn’t had to save him, he would never have been involved in the exorcists’ stories. However, their friendship was quickly born that day, when the two young people saved each other.
Megumi is loyal, and proves to be a tremendous support for Yuji as the young exorcist collapses after the Shibuya Drama. When Yuji blames himself for the incidents related to Sukuna, Megumi is the only one able to understand the nature of his burden, feeling himself responsible for summoning Mahoraga. But he also gave Yuji a good reason to continue helping others.
3 – Yuta Okkotsu is the official successor of Gojo.
Yuta Okkotsu ‘s character description states that “he wiped out a cockroach plague using mouth-to-mouth! Only Satoru Gojo surpasses him in terms of unusual abilities. He doesn’t care about himself.”
Yuta’s fight against Kuro-Urushi, a special class cockroach bane, is definitely one of the strangest in Jujutsu Kaisen. The technique used allows him to throw energy directly into the creature’s mouth, literally causing it to explode in chapter 175.
Beyond the amusing reminder of this particular fight, the new description establishes Yuta’s position as Gojo Satoru’s successor. After the disappearance of the sensei, the student has everything he needs to take his place. No surprise, moreover: the Possessor of the Sixth Eye always ensured that his protégés had what it took to surpass him.
4 – Satoru Gojo always seeks to impress his students
The official description of Satoru Gojo describes him as: “The guy who wants to look cool in front of his students. The strongest exorcist of the modern era.”
His fight against Sukuna kept fans in suspense for many pages. The exorcist gave everything he had, showing a little too much confidence at times, but we understand why in chapter 230: the author of Jujutsu Kaisen shows him in a pitiful state, but explaining to Sukuna that he will do his best, aware that his students are watching him.
This isn’t the first time Gojo has made this kind of remark. After Geto’s departure, the teacher appears much more concerned about the fate of his students.
That he is considered “the most powerful exorcist of the modern era” is not necessarily a good sign, when we know the end he met: as strong as he is, Gojo does not have this what it takes to stand up to Sukuna, the king of plagues.
5 – Shoko Ieiri n’a jamais “aimé”Gojo et Geto
Shoko Ieiri ‘s official description states that she “will never fall in love with Gojo or Geto, even if the heavens and earth were turned. Looks like his tobacco-free period is over.”
Shoko was the only girl in Gojo and Geto’s promotion. The three were also close friends and shared some of their best memories together. But she also did not hesitate to reassure Utahime, specifying that she would never become “waste” like her comrades.
With Shoko being the only girl in the trio, fans are often tempted to pair her with one of the boys. However, in chapter 220 of Jujutsu Kaisen, despite the affection she has for Gojo and Geto, she specifies that she would never fall in love with one of them.
For the rest, the young woman stopped smoking shortly after Geto betrayed the world of exorcists. But due to the stressful nature of her job, she is seen smoking in Shibuya again. In no man’s land, she shows concern for Gojo and also smokes cigarettes.
6 – Sukuna is the most powerful character in history
The official description of Ryomen Sukuna describes him as “the strongest exorcist in history and the king of plagues. Yorozu’s interest leaves him unmoved.”
Sukuna’s description simply states his titles as the most powerful exorcist and king of plagues. Feared by everyone in the exorcist world for centuries, Sukuna’s true name remains a mystery to this day. One thing remains certain: there is no other character in the entire history of the franchise capable of comparing himself to the antagonist.
Additionally, officials decided to add Yorozu to Sukuna’s official description. It must be said that she is certainly the only person crazy enough to declare their love for him. Which did not prevent her from dying twice at the hands of Sukuna. The first time, more than a thousand years ago, on a whim from the king of plagues. The second, during the modern era, took place when she was reincarnated in Tsumiki’s body.
7 – Uraume hates Gojo more than anything
The official description of Uraume states that he is an “associate of Sukuna, cook and master of flails. “Damn you Gojo Satoru…” “
Uraume is one of the strongest curse masters in history, but he is primarily Sukuna’s subordinate. The latter represents his absolute priority, in all circumstances: Uraume cares about all his needs, and takes a dim view of anyone who opposes the king of plagues. Obviously, Gojo was not likely to please him, especially since the Possessor of the Sixth Eye violently attacked him once freed from the Edge of Torment, in chapter 221 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
If we add the attack in chapter 223 which knocks him out once again, we can easily bury any attempt at reconciliation.
8 – Hajime Kashimo’s only goal is to face Sukuna
The official description of Hajime Kashimo states that “he wants to fight Sukuna! Does not share the same mindset as the weak.”
Kashimo’s ultimate goal is to confront Sukuna. Although he comes from a different era than the Blight King, he has always harbored the hope of one day facing him. The Murderous Hunt offered him the opportunity he had dreamed of, and the exorcist did not hesitate when he was offered the opportunity to reincarnate in a time where his adversary would live.
Kashimo enters the arena directly after Gojo’s death, eager to compete against someone powerful. Because the character is himself at the top of the food chain in his time, and openly despises those who cannot match him.
9 – Maki Zenin is officially the equal of Toji Fushiguro
The official description of Maki Zenin states that “she destroyed everything and became a demon equal to Toji.”
Maki is not the only character in Jujutsu Kaisen to have suffered from the shenanigans of the Zenin Clan. But instead of letting them do as they please, she literally tore the members of her formidable family to pieces. Furthermore, after Mai’s death, she unleashed the true potential of her innate oath: freed from the last traces of occult energy that linked her to her sister, she developed unparalleled physical strength.
Since then, she has often been compared to Toji Fushiguro. In chapter 148, Ogi Zenin sees similarities between Maki and Toji. Which terrifies him, even though he refuses to back down to challenge Maki. Indeed, the Zenin were always aware of Toji’s full potential but were too proud to formally recognize it.
That Maki is compared to such a powerful character, capable of overcoming S-class exorcists, proves that the young woman is among the best Jujutsu Kaisen fighters.
10 – Mai Zenin sacrificed herself for Maki
The official description of Mai Zenin states: “Stole everything Maki owned and left her with only a katana…”
Fans have long hated Mai for her apparent arrogance and her treatment of her twin sister, Maki. But the exorcist actually hid his feelings, and was not spared by the Zenin clan: after the Shibuya Drama, the family decided to get rid of the “useless” twins. Worse, it was their father, Ogi Zenin, who volunteered to carry out the sentence.
Seriously injured, Mai no longer had a way to save Maki. Aware that her sister’s only chance of survival was to use the extent of her potential by getting rid of the last traces of occult energy, the exorcist sacrificed herself. But she did not leave without leaving the sword of souls behind her, which Maki would later use to destroy their clan.
11. Kento Nanami’s dream never came true
The official description of Kento Nanami states that he “hates working so much that he has made overtime an oath. The first person everyone wants to give a happy life to in Malaysia!”
Nanami remains one of the most beloved characters by fans. After the death of Yu Haibara, the exorcist slammed the door, turning his back on the profession in which he excelled. But his experience of the world of work also disgusted him: even if it meant choosing, he preferred to go back and break the scourge.
Nanami lost her life in the Shibuya Drama arc, after facing many enemies and humans altered by Mahito. In his last conscious moments, the exorcist spoke of his dream of a peaceful retirement in Malaysia, before being cut down by his enemy’s Absolute Alteration. If his dream could not come true, the anime still paid him a vibrant tribute in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen, taking the time to show Yuji’s mentor serene on a sunny beach.
12 – Suguru Geto est plus populaire que Gojo
Suguru Geto ‘s official description reads: “Whether people say his locks are weird or he looks like a liar, the fact that he’s more popular than Gojo will never change!”
Gojo is one of the most popular characters among fans, but Gege Akutami revealed in the official fanbook that Geto is more popular than Gojo among the female audience.
In the same fanbook, the Jujutsu Kaisen author explains that the first detail that struck Gojo about Geto was his locks. A detail that the mangaka likes to bring to the forefront when asked what prevails in the character’s design.
In the manga, when Misato calls him “the guy with the highlights,” he asks her to never mention him that way again. He is also annoyed when Riko claims that he looks like a liar and that his locks are weird.
13 – Masamichi Yaga deserves a medal
Masamichi Yaga ‘s official description reads: “Having been at the mercy of Gojo Satoru for nearly 10 years, our Tokyo school principal deserves the People’s Honor Award.”
Yaga found himself stuck with Gojo for more than 10 years and had to deal with the problems that the Possessor of the Sixth Eye caused. As a student, Gojo was already a troublemaker and often had to answer for his mistakes to Yaga. The latter also did not hesitate to raise his hands on the teenager, and their dynamic remained the same, including when Gojo became an adult.
The People’s Honor Award is awarded by the Prime Minister of Japan to people who have distinguished themselves in fields such as sports or entertainment. Tolerating a free electron like Gojo is well worth this kind of reward.
14 – The confusing description of Utahime Iori
The official description of Utahime Iori stands out from the others for its sobriety: “She sings really well.”
Unlike the other characters, Utahime is not entitled to a particularly detailed description which would reveal more about her. It may be a joke, but there may also be a hidden message.
In the official Jujutsu Kaisen fanbook, Gege Akutami reveals that his innate technique is linked to singing. Even its name recalls the word “song” , which can be translated as “Uta” , while “hime” means “princess” .
His “Individual Forbidden Zone” allows him to increase the occult energy of any exorcist found within a specific perimeter. To cast his spell, Utahime must first carry out a ritual, scrupulously following well-defined steps.
15 – Mei Mei is only interested in money
Mei Mei ‘s official character description states: “Apparently she makes a lot of money from the fight between Sukuna and Gojo.”
Mei Mei’s description is also rather vague, as it mainly refers to her love for money. The independent exorcist sells her quality services in exchange for large sums.
In chapter 222 of Jujutsu Kaisen, while everyone is training or making plans before the battle against Sukuna, Mei Mei is the only one concerned about her salary. She uses a website where people can bet on the different camps present in no man’s land. We therefore have no doubt that the amounts recovered are impressive.
16 – Ui Ui has a serious relationship problem with her sister
Ui Ui ‘s official character description states that “he wants to become the personal property of his biological sister.”
Ui Ui is several years younger than Mei Mei, but he still makes sure to meet her every need. To say that his brotherly love has transformed into an obsession would be an understatement: the little brother is happy at the idea of carrying out the slightest request from his big sister, even if it means dying if she asks him to.
According to the official fanbook, his hobby is managing Mei Mei’s schedule, and he gets anxious whenever he is not around her.
Which Jujutsu Kaisen characters haven’t received new descriptions?
The descriptions of many Jujutsu Kaisen characters received updates with this 4th poll, but others fell through the cracks. Here are the characters who did not receive an update:

The descriptions of Hakari and Kirara remain the same. According to Twitter/X, Hakari’s description states that he “loves heat more than anything. He remembers that his ex kept renewing an infinite debt.” For her part, Kirara’s description simply states that she “doesn’t want to hear Kinchan talk about her ex.”
