Jujutsu Kaisen: Sukuna and the Holy Trinity in Chapter 268

Jujutsu Kaisen: Sukuna and the Holy Trinity in Chapter 268

The release of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268 was scheduled for Monday, September 2, 2024. However, spoilers from the chapter were leaked a few days prior to its official release. As a result, fans were able to gain insight into the new developments that will be featured in the upcoming manga chapter.

As seen in the supposed spoilers, the next installment of the manga will showcase Yuji Itadori’s successful attempt to remove Ryomen Sukuna from Megumi’s body. As a result, the King of Curses will only have his residual powers remaining.

Despite this, this was not the first time that a main antagonist in a Shonen manga transformed into such a being. Similar occurrences had already been witnessed in Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia. With Sukuna now included, the “Holy Trinity”was ultimately fulfilled.

Jujutsu Kaisen Character Ryomen Sukuna Joins Antagonist Holy Trinity

According to the purported spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268, once Yuji successfully removed Ryomen Sukuna from Megumi Fushiguro’s body, the cursed king was left without a vessel. Without a physical form to inhabit, Sukuna was reduced to his residual form, resembling a slime with only eyes and a mouth.

The same situation occurred with both Demon Slayer and My Hero Academia. During the final battle, All For One discovered a new method to prolong his life. Whenever he was defeated, his body would revert back to a younger version. As a result, after being defeated multiple times, All For One ultimately transformed into a baby and was ultimately defeated by Katsuki Bakugo. Although the villain did eventually return, his infant form was just as menacing as Sukuna’s remnants.

Similarly, in Demon Slayer, there was a nearly identical occurrence where Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji transformed into an oversized infant in order to shield himself from the sun’s rays. This appearance was even more grotesque than All For One’s infant form. As all three notorious villains experienced similar transformations towards their downfall, they were often referred to by fans as the “Holy Trinity.”

How Fans Reacted to the Holy Trinity

After the final form of Ryomen Sukuna was revealed in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, fans were left wondering why it seems to be a common trend for Shonen villains to transform into infants or liquid in their final moments.

“Why all the villains turning into babies or goop,”one fan said.

“Get AFO out of there,”another said.

Despite some fans’ disdain for the three villains being grouped together, they argued that All For One from My Hero Academia was a superior villain compared to Muzan from Demon Slayer and Sukuna from Jujutsu Kaisen. This led to accusations of disrespect towards the respective manga series.

Additionally, a fan also pointed out that Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, and Jujutsu Kaisen were not the first shows to feature an antagonist meeting this type of demise. The same type of ending was famously portrayed through the character Envy in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

“Funny that envy was the first one xd,”another added.

“How glad I am when the villain who despises everything is humiliated,”other fan said.

Despite the comparisons between the villains, other fans were not particularly concerned. They found satisfaction in seeing the despised villains being humiliated. While the ending may have seemed repetitive, it was still a satisfying outcome for them to witness a villain receive their comeuppance.
