Jujutsu Kaisen: The Latest Chapter Shifts Yuji and Sukuna’s Roles as the Hunter Becomes the Hunted

The climax of the final battle against Ryomen Sukuna and his subsequent demise were depicted in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 268, which was released on September 2, 2024. The release of Fushigoro Megumi and the prevention of the Great Merger were also significant events in the chapter. Additionally, there were hints that Okkotsu Yuta may have survived the dangerous use of Gojo’s body.

During Sukuna’s final moments, Itadori Yuji inquired about his current condition. Throughout the series, Ryomen Sukuna had sought ways to inflict pain upon the protagonist, going as far as to label him as a feeble and pitiful human. Nonetheless, his downfall at the hands of Itadori was a satisfying ‘prey becomes predator’ moment.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 267 concluded with Nobara making a comeback, utilizing Sukuna’s final finger to trigger her Resonance and paralyze the King of Curses. In chapter 268, Sukuna and Megumi engage in a monologue, with Sukuna attempting to demoralize Megumi in order to regain control of his body.

Despite Sukuna’s attempts to persuade him, Megumi remained determined to live for others this time and ignored his talk. As Yuji’s domain collapsed, Sukuna was forcibly separated from Megumi’s body, ultimately setting him free.

Despite being torn apart, Sukuna was reduced to a mere mass of flesh, lamenting his cruel destiny. Itadori approached the King of Curses and gazed down at him, bearing the weight of all the suffering he had endured at his hands. However, Itadori remained true to his character and extended an offer for Sukuna to reside within him, should no one else be willing to accept him.

Before his death, Sukuna once again taunted Itadori and warned him not to underestimate him as he was a powerful curse. This signified the conclusion of the intense battle between Ryomen Sukuna, a notorious sorcerer hunter, and formidable sorcerers such as Choso, Higuruma, and Gojo Satoru. Additionally, he criticized the main character for their lack of strength.

Despite considering himself the strongest cursed spirit, the King of Curses faced a reality check when Itadori gained the upper hand in the last phase of their battle with the assistance of his friends. As a result, the hunter became the hunted.

Surprisingly, the ultimate battle against Ryomen Sukuna mirrored the events of the Shibuya arc, with Mahito taking on the role of the King of Curses. Similar to Sukuna’s actions of constantly eliminating Yuji’s comrades, Mahito also took the life of Nanami. As with Itadori’s initial reaction to the loss of his companions, he also faced a moment of defeat upon the supposed death of Nobara.

Similarly, as the final battle resulted in the downfall of the King of Curses, the Shibuya arc came to a close with the special-grade cursed spirit being defeated in a humiliating manner by Itadori Yuji’s superior skills.
