Jujutsu Kaisen: The Possibility of Sukuna’s Return After His Death

The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is approaching its conclusion as the main villain, Ryomen Sukuna, meets his demise. However, there remains a possibility for his return.

In Chapter 268 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the long-awaited battle against the strongest opponent finally comes to an end. Though every sorcerer played a crucial role in defeating the most formidable sorcerer in history, Yuji stands tall until the very end and assists Megumi in breaking free from the clutches of the villain.

The battle raged on for more than a year, as the main characters engaged in a fierce struggle against the King of Curses, utilizing all of their skills and tactics. With Nobara’s Resonance and Yuji’s Domain Expansion, the villain was ultimately rendered incapable of putting up a fight.

Despite Sukuna’s death in the manga, the chapter drops a significant clue that suggests he may still make a comeback. As the manga approaches its finale, one can only speculate about what events may unfold.

After managing to break free from Sukuna’s hold, Megumi watches as the curse transforms into a pile of flesh. Despite being an incarnated curse, Sukuna is unable to maintain a physical form without a host. The long and grueling battle has greatly weakened him.

Thanks to Yuji’s use of Soul Punches and Domain Expansion, Megumi is finally able to hear the voice of his friend and finds a renewed sense of purpose after the death of Tsumiki. Despite Yuji’s offer to become his vessel once more, Sukuna stubbornly clings to his pride until his eventual disintegration.

How is it possible for him to return?

Yuta tricked Sukuna into believing that he fed the final finger to Rika. In reality, Yuta consumed Yuji’s finger and stored Sukuna’s finger in a chamber. Nobara then employs her Resonance on the finger, causing Sukuna to experience convulsions from the intense pain.

Despite Nobara’s attempts to use her technique, Sukuna’s finger remained intact and Yuji was able to continue his attacks. In a desperate move, Yuji offered to become Sukuna’s vessel in order to consume the final finger and potentially revive his greatest enemy. However, Sukuna’s pride ultimately led to his downfall as he refused the offer and perished.

In Chapter 247 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Kusakabe states that curses do not always lose their power after death. Higruma concurs, adding that they can even become stronger. Sukuna’s parting words, “For I am a curse,”imply that there may be a deeper meaning behind this.

Despite our knowledge, it seems highly unlikely that the final finger can be destroyed – even Gojo himself is unable to accomplish such a feat. The only option is to seal it away, but the seal will inevitably weaken over time. As long as the finger remains, there will always be a possibility of Sukuna’s resurgence.

Although it may be a matter of decades or even centuries, the potential for someone else to become a vessel cannot be ruled out. JJK could even end on a cliffhanger, with someone discovering his final finger and leaving numerous unresolved inquiries, allowing for the possibility of a sequel.

The release date for the final chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, which will be ending in a few weeks, can be found by those interested.
