Jujutsu Kaisen: Ui Ui’s Cursed Technique Revealed to Surpass Kenjaku’s Body Transfer Ability

Despite appearing weakened, Ryomen Sukuna continued to surprise readers in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 258 with more revelations and twists. Utilizing his incomplete Domain, he made a Binding Vow to sustain it and successfully pushed back the Jujutsu High sorcerers.

In an intriguing twist, the reason behind Yuji Itadori and Atsuya Kusakabe switching bodies was finally uncovered. However, it was not either of them who had caused the switch, but rather a surprising individual named Ui Ui. It turns out that this white-haired boy has a remarkable ability that far surpasses Kenjaku’s body transfer.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Ui Ui’s Superior Cursed Technique Compared to Kenjaku’s Body Transfer

Who is Ui Ui?

Ui Ui, younger brother of sorcerer Mei Mei in Jujutsu Kaisen, may come as a surprise to some. Despite his mature demeanor, he does not possess any noteworthy magical abilities. However, his unwavering devotion and loyalty to his older sister define his character thus far, as he is even willing to sacrifice his life for her. Additionally, he harbors a strong dislike towards anyone who causes inconvenience to her.

Previously established, Ui Ui possesses the skill of Spatial Transference, allowing him to teleport, or instantly transport, himself and others to predetermined destinations. Throughout the battle, he has utilized this ability to transfer wounded individuals to an undisclosed location, potentially to Shoko Ieiri.

However, chapter 258 of Jujutsu Kaisen highlights yet another remarkable ability possessed by him.

Soul Swapping

Ui Ui can extend his technique and utilize it on souls as well. According to him, a present concealed within a box cannot be extracted at one’s discretion; it can only be released with consent. This is how he is able to “transfer and interchange the souls of individuals”that he has designated.

According to Yuji’s observations of Mahito’s case, it is clear that altering the soul can have an impact on the physical body. However, Ui Ui’s method sets itself apart in this regard. As he explains, he has the ability to “swap the boxes without opening them,”and unless the boxes are opened, it is impossible to detect the switch.

His Cursed Technique (CT) can be compared to Schrodinger’s Cat, a well-known thought experiment. The cat was enclosed in a box with a device that could potentially end its life. As long as the box remained closed, the cat was considered to be both deceased and alive.

Final Thoughts

Ui Ui’s CT is a major game-changer in the larger context. In fact, with a discovery like this, it would not be out of line to refer to him as the ultimate wildcard. His CT, which operates on the same “here but not here”principle, is incredibly potent, especially when applied to souls.

Up until now, readers have been introduced to various techniques used to manipulate souls in the story – such as Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration and Kenjaku’s reincarnation of Sukuna’s twin’s soul. With the revelation of Ui Ui’s knowledge about souls, the series has the potential to explore even more possibilities regarding soul manipulation.

Through this CT, Gojo was referring to the white-haired boy as an example of a sorcerer who cannot be restricted by the Special Grade classification.
