Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Yuji and Sukuna will never be Naruto and Kurama

In Chapter 265 of Jujutsu Kaisen, which has not yet been officially released, spoilers suggest that a widely-held belief that Yuji and Sukuna share similarities with Naruto and Kurama is ultimately disproven. The spoilers indicate that the narrative firmly rejects the notion that Yuji and Sukuna could form a bond similar to Naruto and Kurama’s.

The chapter highlights an important discussion between Yuji and Sukuna during their intense battle. However, their dialogue concludes with a tense atmosphere, emphasizing the irreconcilable differences between the two enemies. This serves to emphasize the noticeable differences between Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto.

While both series have main characters who possess the bodies of their greatest adversaries, the results of these connections are fundamentally dissimilar.

Analysis of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 265: Rejecting the Comparison between Naruto and Kurama and Yuji and Sukuna

In chapter 265 of Jujutsu Kaisen, mangaka Gege Akutami clearly distinguishes the contrasting fates of the main characters Yuji Itadori and Ryomen Sukuna, who were previously sharing the same body. This is in contrast to the resolution seen in Naruto, one of the Big 3 series, between Naruto and Kurama.

Some fans have theorized that Yuji and Sukuna’s journey may mirror that of Naruto and Kurama’s, resulting in a similar resolution. However, chapter 265 of the manga disproves this speculation by showcasing the diverging paths of Yuji and Sukuna from those seen in Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto, despite both series featuring a protagonist sharing a body with a formidable being.

Akutami sensei demonstrates that the parallel between Naruto and Kurama and Yuji and Sukuna is confined solely to their body-sharing dynamic and does not encompass the outcome of their relationships.

The Unique Dynamic Between Yuji and Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 265

During this chapter, Yuji and Sukuna engage in a meaningful discussion within Yuji’s domain. Yuji tries to establish a connection with Sukuna by reminiscing about his past and childhood, hoping to showcase the more emotional and heartfelt aspects of being human.

Despite Yuji’s attempts to evoke empathy by sharing seemingly insignificant but cherished memories and discussing his beliefs on the value of human lives and their roles in life, Sukuna remains cold and unempathetic. While he acknowledges Yuji’s perspective, he remains unmoved.

Sukuna acknowledges that although he understands Yuji’s perspective, he does not share the same emotional attachment to it and therefore cannot agree with his reasoning. He points out that, like how Yuji previously accepted the city’s state of development, he too accepts things as they are. Feeling frustrated, Yuji comes to the realization that he has been unable to persuade Sukuna.

Sukuna becomes aware of Yuji’s attempt to gain sympathy and questions his intentions. Instead of responding, Yuji issues a threat to Sukuna, claiming he has the ability to kill him and will do so if his demands are not met. Yuji demands that Sukuna vacate Megumi Fushiguro’s body and return to him, offering to spare his life in exchange.

Despite this, Sukuna’s pride is wounded and he becomes enraged. He dismisses Yuji’s threat and belittles his ability to kill him, the powerful King of Curses. In retaliation, Sukuna not only threatens to tear Yuji apart, but also vows to kill all of the people Yuji cares about before his very eyes.

Examining the Differences Between Yuji and Sukuna’s Fate in Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto and Kurama’s Fate

The chapter’s narrative emphasizes that Yuji and Sukuna’s story will never mirror that of Naruto and Kurama’s. It demonstrates that Sukuna, despite comprehending human empathy, ultimately lacks it. He remains committed to his own beliefs, viewing himself as superior and disregarding the value of those he deems unworthy.

Despite their opposing views, Yuji believes in the value of every person’s life and the importance of individuals choosing their own paths. This fundamental difference in perspective creates a strong mutual animosity, making any potential collaboration between them highly unlikely.

Despite the possibility of Sukuna returning to Yuji’s body, their connection will never reach the level of the profound familial bond between Naruto and Kurama. Unlike Naruto and Kurama, who ultimately develop such a strong bond that Kurama gives his life to protect Naruto, the outcome for Yuji and Sukuna will be vastly different. Their animosity towards each other will continue without any chance for reconciliation, as both are willing to go to extremes to eliminate the other.
