Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuta’s Copy of Sukuna’s Shrine Involves Yuji

After much anticipation, Jujutsu Kaisen has provided an answer to the long-standing question about Yuta Okkotsu’s use of Ryomen Sukuna’s Shrine technique. As readers may recall from chapter 250, Yuta shocked everyone by swiftly approaching Sukuna and exclaiming the word “Cleave.”

After that, the fandom became abuzz with discussions about Yuta copying Sukuna’s Cursed Technique (CT). Many theories have circulated, all speculating about this exact issue. The most widely accepted theory proposed that Yuta had Rika ingest Sukuna’s last finger, granting him the ability to Copy the technique.

Nonetheless, the previous chapter revealed that Yuji Itadori played a crucial role in Yuta’s ability to replicate Sukuna’s Shrine, and now everything falls into place.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Yuji’s Role in Yuta’s Ability to Copy Sukuna’s Shrine

The latest installment of Jujutsu Kaisen clarified that Sukuna’s last remaining finger was not used for Yuta to replicate Shrine, but rather it was Yuji’s finger. In the previous few chapters, there were subtle hints of Yuji’s hands being featured prominently, and upon closer inspection, it appears that he is actually missing two fingers instead of just one.

As it is well-known, Sukuna had already taken one of his fingers when he fed it to Megumi Fushiguro in order to possess his body. However, the reason for another missing finger becomes clear – Yuta had Rika consume one of Yuji’s fingers. The fact that Sukuna and Yuji shared a body resulted in Sukuna’s Curse Technique being engraved in Yuji’s body, which is why Yuji is able to use Soul Dismantle.

Additionally, it highlights Yuta’s deception of Sukuna by utilizing Yuji’s finger to replicate the Shrine. The reasoning behind this action is also disclosed through a captivating dialogue between Yuta and Gojo Satoru.

During a training session, Yuta requested that Gojo give Rika permission to consume Sukuna’s final finger and Copy Shrine. However, Gojo declined, and for valid reasons. Jujutsu Kaisen then proceeds to reveal crucial details about Copy. Firstly, it is explained that a single finger would not suffice for analyzing Sukuna’s Shrine. Furthermore, even when Yuta utilized Toge Inumaki’s Cursed Speech, he still required the boy’s cooperation.

Additionally, in order to copy a powerful Curse Technique from someone like Sukuna, the specific body part consumed had to be fatal to the target. A single finger would not suffice in fulfilling this requirement. Furthermore, if Rika were to consume a part of the target, it would become ineffective if the target were able to regenerate the lost body part through modern science or the Reverse Cursed Technique (RCT).

In light of these factors, it would have been ill-advised to use Sukuna’s final finger to power Copy. It was more effective to have Yuji ingest the finger and have Sukuna’s CT engraved on his body, which ultimately proved successful. Additionally, Yuji did not rely on RCT to regenerate his missing finger, allowing Sukuna’s Shrine in Copy to remain active.

Concluding Thoughts

This situation serves as a prime illustration of Gojo’s foresight. Making the decision to disallow Yuta from using Sukuna’s final finger as a source of energy for Copy was a wise move for the future. Additionally, Yuta’s use of Yuji’s finger instead ultimately allowed Team Jujutsu High to maintain their crucial connection to Sukuna.

As a result of her sharp thinking, Nobara Kugisaki played a crucial role in the Shinjuku Showdown. Her understanding of Nobara’s CT and Sukuna’s suppression of Megumi’s soul led her to hold onto his last finger, a decision that proved to be genius.

Despite not knowing its whereabouts, Sukuna is now visibly helpless and feeling desperate, a sight that Yuji and the others have been eagerly waiting to see.
