The popular manga series Jujutsu Kaisen has officially concluded after 271 intense chapters, eliciting a variety of reactions from fans. While some believe that creator Gege Akutami should have extended the series to address remaining storylines, others feel that the conclusion, featuring the reunion of the central trio, offered a satisfying resolution. However, many fans agree that the series missed the opportunity to fully showcase the “Holy Trinity”of Usami, Kento Nanami, and Hiromi Higuruma.
Jujutsu Kaisen Misses the Opportunity to Showcase the “Holy Trinity”
Jujutsu Kaisen features a diverse array of characters, each with distinct abilities that set them apart. Among them, Kento Nanami and Hiromi Higuruma have garnered significant fan attention. Usami, another intriguing sorcerer, has also joined their ranks, collectively dubbed the “Holy Trinity.”
Sadly, Nanami met a tragic end at the hands of Mahito during the Shibuya Incident and never participated in the final showdown in Shinjuku, nor did he fulfill his dream of traveling to Malaysia. Similarly, Higuruma, who showed immense potential, was sidelined relatively early in the final arc. Meanwhile, Usami’s background remains largely unexplored; he was characterized as a male Grade 1 Sorcerer mentioned by Atsuya Kusakabe in Chapter 253, with Kusakabe labeling him as one of the strongest, despite the ongoing debate excluding both of them.
Fans were particularly disappointed by the opportunity missed to feature the three sorcerers together in the Shinjuku Showdown. Many had anticipated Usami’s introduction during this climactic battle to further explore his character. Although Higuruma participated in the fight, he sustained serious injuries, while Nanami was unable to join them. The similarities between Nanami and Higuruma might have intensified fans’ desire to see this “Holy Trinity”unite.
Fans Regret Missed Moment to Glimpse the “Holy Trinity”
There is a shared dissatisfaction among the fandom regarding the absence of the “Holy Trinity”in the series. Many took to social media to express their sentiments, with a collective hope to see and learn more about Usami.
“I wonder if we’ll be seeing Usami fanart now”- an X user commented.
The release of art featuring Usami sparked significant interest, especially considering the prior speculation surrounding his character. Akutami’s portrayal of Usami has opened avenues for fanart and possibly fan-created narratives.
“So why would they create this character or is there a part two coming?”- a fan questioned.
While a portion of the fanbase harbors hope for additional Jujutsu Kaisen content, currently, there are no updates regarding a potential second part. Given the series has recently concluded, it’s understandable that the creators may not have immediate plans. Instead of a sequel, a spin-off focusing on beloved support characters like Nanami, Kusakabe, and Higuruma seems more plausible.
“At least 2 of them are still alive”- a netizen pointed out.
One fan highlighted that of the “Holy Trinity,”two members are still alive. While Nanami’s death at Mahito’s hands is confirmed, Usami’s fate remains ambiguous, as many speculate he is currently alive and elsewhere. Meanwhile, Kusakabe’s heroics were crucial in assisting the Jujutsu High team during their battle against their opponents, contributing significantly to their eventual victory.
“Every time these posts forget Kusakabe I get sad”- a fan posted.
Finally, a segment of the fandom has expressed strong feelings that Atsuya Kusakabe should also be included in discussions of the “Holy Trinity.”With him, they argue it transforms into a “Divine Quadruple,”with four exceptionally powerful sorcerers who possess unique skills. Kusakabe has proven his worth during critical battles, displaying his talents against both Kenjaku and the Demon King.
